Simple Broccoli and Ham Quiche

1 (10 ounce) package frozen broccoli florets

1 onion, minced

1 teaspoon garlic, minced

1 ½ cups diced cooked ham

1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese

1 cup milk

4 large eggs, beaten

½ teaspoon ground black pepper

1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Place the broccoli in a microwave-safe bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Microwave in 1-minute bursts until heated through, about 5 minutes; drain and set aside.

In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until the onion softens, about 5 minutes. Add the ham and broccoli to the pan and mix well, then transfer to the pie crust.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, cheese, milk, and black pepper. Pour this mixture over the ham and broccoli in the crust. Sprinkle with paprika.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Chef's Tips
Fresh broccoli can be swapped for the frozen variety; just cook it with the onions and garlic until tender.
For a delicious twist, try combining Cheddar and provolone cheeses, which works wonderfully.
While mushrooms and red peppers could enhance this dish, my family prefers to keep it simple.
