Ingredients
-
½ pound ground beef
-
½ onion, chopped
-
½ cup ketchup
-
2 tablespoons water
-
1 tablespoon brown sugar
-
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
-
1 teaspoon white vinegar
-
1 teaspoon chili powder
-
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
-
¼ teaspoon onion powder
-
¼ teaspoon salt
-
2 hamburger buns, split
Instructions
-
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, then add ground beef and onion. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and crumbly, about 10 minutes. Drain off any excess grease. Stir in ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, vinegar, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
-
Bring the beef mixture to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes until the sauce has thickened. Serve the mixture on buns.
Cooking Tip
Don't worry about the vinegar; it helps balance out the sweetness from the sugar and the heat from the chili powder.
