8 Essential Tips for Summer Travel.

Last summer was all about spontaneous adventures and checking off those bucket-list destinations. This year feels a bit different. While travel costs are generally higher than last year, there’s a silver lining: Americans are taking significantly more PTO, with average vacation lengths surpassing those of 2019. We appreciate that! To equip you for your upcoming summer journeys, we’ve compiled 8 key insights to help you plan a more enjoyable trip.
1. It's the perfect time to utilize your passport.

What’s trending now? International travel! Searches for international flights have surged by an incredible 42%. It’s not just about flights; hotel searches (+36%) and car rentals (+35%) for international locations have also increased compared to last summer. So, join the trend!
2. Renting a car might be the only expense you won’t need to overspend on. Travel is an investment, and this year it feels a bit steeper, much like egg prices. However, there’s a bright side for rental cars: daily rates have decreased by 13% compared to last year. In contrast, flights and hotels have seen cost increases of 35% and 5%, respectively.
3. Be prepared to spend a little more, and that’s totally fine. This doesn’t mean you can’t leverage Dinogo to snag a fantastic deal. However, looking strictly at the data, we don’t see any domestic or international summer flight routes showing a significant decline in airfare compared to last summer.* So, expect to pay a bit more overall. (But believe me, it’s worth it.)
4. If you’re traveling for a holiday, choose midweek travel.
Use your PTO wisely. The week of Memorial Day is among the most economical times for domestic travel. Likewise, the week of Labor Day is one of the cheapest for hotel stays in the US or for renting cars internationally.* So, when everyone returns to work on Tuesday, take that chance to be out of the office.
5. If you want to impress, visit Asia.

That’s where the trendsetters are heading. Five of the top ten trending international summer destinations are found in Asia. Moreover, flight searches to Asia have increased by 56% compared to last summer.* This area is emerging as the new hotspot for travelers keen on staying fashionable.
6. Follow the trends. Europe and the South Pacific are also gaining popularity this summer. Flight searches to these areas have risen by 55% and 56% respectively compared to last year.* This increase in interest might lead to more flight routes being added, along with enhanced services for the influx of visitors.
7. This summer, go for the all-inclusive experience. All-inclusive resorts are on the rise. Travelers are realizing life is too short to worry about stocking a vacation rental kitchen. Our data shows a 31% increase in the use of our “all-inclusive stays” filter since last year, and a staggering 166% increase since 2019.** More people are choosing the all-you-can-drink piña colada packages than ever before.
8. Consider car sharing. Car sharing is the unexpected addition your trip didn’t know it needed. What is “car sharing,” you may wonder? It’s the concept of renting a vehicle from an individual rather than a company, similar to how a well-known home rental service operates. You can find these options on Dinogo – and since last year, we’ve noted a 94% increase in travelers utilizing our car-sharing filter.*** Join the trend!
