This sign-up bonus is valued at $1,085, based on TPG’s July 2024 valuations.
The AAdvantage Executive card received a major update in July 2023, including higher annual and authorized user fees, along with enhanced earning rates. The card now offers 4 miles per dollar on eligible American Airlines purchases and 1 mile per dollar on all other purchases. After spending $150,000 in a calendar year, you'll earn 5 miles per dollar on American Airlines purchases for the rest of the year. You’ll also earn 10 miles per dollar on qualifying car rentals and hotel bookings made through American’s car rental and hotel booking sites.
With an annual fee of $595, the AAdvantage Executive card is significantly more expensive than other options, but it offers a valuable perk for frequent travelers — Admirals Club access for you, any authorized users, and up to two guests traveling with you when you have a same-day boarding pass for an eligible flight, plus loyalty point bonuses, travel protections, and statement credits for car rentals, food delivery, ride-hailing, and Global Entry/TSA PreCheck.
This card is ideal for frequent American Airlines travelers who want premium perks like valuable statement credits and access to Admirals Club.

This sign-up bonus is valued at $775, based on TPG’s July 2024 valuations. The card has a reasonable $99 annual fee, which is waived for the first year, and comes with no foreign transaction fees.
Earn 2 miles per dollar on eligible American Airlines purchases, dining, and gas station spending. Plus, you’ll earn 1 Loyalty Point for every 1 AAdvantage mile earned from purchases. The AAdvantage MileUp offers a modest sign-up bonus valued at $233, based on TPG's July 2024 valuations.
You’ll earn 2 miles per dollar on eligible American Airlines purchases and at grocery stores. The grocery store bonus category includes grocery delivery services, though it may not offer the best return for your regular grocery shopping. As a no-annual-fee card, it lacks many perks, but you’ll get 25% off inflight drinks and snacks.
If you’re just starting to earn American Airlines miles, this card could be a great budget-friendly entry point into the Citi / AAdvantage lineup. However, if you fly American Airlines frequently, you might find more value in a card with an annual fee, as they typically offer better earning rates and additional benefits.

Bottom line
If you're looking to grow your AAdvantage miles for future travel, or if the AAdvantage program's sweet spots match your travel goals, now might be the perfect time to grab one of these cobranded American Airlines cards.
Keep in mind that Citi doesn't offer travel protections on many of its cards (though they’ve reintroduced this benefit on the Executive card), which is something to consider before using your cobranded Citi card to book trips.
Having an American Airlines cobranded credit card can still make sense for the unique perks and mileage earning potential it offers, but be sure to do the math on which card is best for booking your flights.
Also, be aware of the restrictions on the sign-up bonus. With these Citi American Airlines cards, you won't be eligible for the sign-up bonus if you've received a new account bonus for the same card in the past 48 months.
