A new Kimpton hotel is set to open near Rockefeller Center in New York City
In the realm of lifestyle hotels, few brands boast as devoted a following as Kimpton. Infused with local charm and modern design, the brand offers guests a genuine sense of place.
Kimpton's hotels span from a stylish location in Tokyo's vibrant Shinjuku district to a majestic hotel in London, along with resort destinations like the Kimpton Seafire Grand Cayman.
New York City is already home to two Kimpton hotels: the Kimpton Hotel Eventi in Chelsea and the Kimpton Hotel Theta in Times Square.
Soon, New York City will welcome a third Kimpton venue, this one located near Rockefeller Center in Midtown. It will be developed by Extell Development Company, known for a robust hospitality portfolio that includes the Hard Rock Hotel New York and the W Hotel Times Square.

Scheduled to open next year, Kimpton Rockefeller Center will be a 33-story hotel crafted by New York City’s own SLCE Architects. SLCE has designed several other luxury hotels in the city, including the Four Seasons New York Downtown, the Park Hyatt New York, and the renovation that transformed the iconic Crown Building into Aman New York.
IHGThe interiors will be created by INC Architecture & Design, known for projects like 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge and the TWA Hotel at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), one of the most recognizable hotels globally.
Like most Kimpton locations, the new Midtown establishment will offer various dining options, a rooftop bar with stunning skyscraper views from its position at 48th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, a lobby lounge, a fitness center, and spaces for communal gatherings and meetings.
If all goes according to plan, the property "will be one of the finest hotels, featuring a vibrant food and beverage program along with stunning views of Rockefeller Center and the city skyline in one of New York City's most frequented neighborhoods," said Elysa Goldman, senior vice president of development at Extell.
For enthusiasts of points and miles, it will provide an additional opportunity to save on stays in the often exorbitantly priced city. Additionally, the hotel will be located near key tourist attractions, Broadway shows, some of the country's most enchanting holiday displays, and major public transit lines, making it easy for travelers to explore every corner of the Big Apple.
If New York doesn't quite suit your taste, there are currently 75 Kimpton hotels in operation, including our favorites, along with another 57 set to open in the next five years.
