Members of Marriott Bonvoy can earn and use points for stays at MGM Resorts properties, including those in the MGM Collection like the Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, and Aria located in Las Vegas.
Marriott Bonvoy members enjoy exclusive benefits depending on their status level during qualifying stays at MGM properties, including opportunities to earn bonus points ranging from 10% for Silver Elite members to 75% for Titanium and Ambassador Elite members. Additional advantages include complimentary late checkout and suite upgrades.
Until 2024, eligible MGM Rewards Gold, Platinum, and Noir members who have linked their accounts can match their status in Marriott Bonvoy as follows:
- MGM Rewards Gold corresponds to Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite
- MGM Rewards Platinum corresponds to Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite
- MGM Rewards Noir corresponds to Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite
The initial status match and associated benefits are valid until December 31 and apply only to current MGM status holders who are also members of Marriott Bonvoy. Marriott Bonvoy members cannot match their status to the MGM Rewards program.
Is transferring Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards points worthwhile?
You can use MGM Rewards points for hotel stays, shows, dining, and more at a fixed value of 1 cent per point.
Marriott Bonvoy points can be redeemed for award stays, Marriott Bonvoy Moments, merchandise, and gift cards, or transferred to airlines and other travel partners. TPG currently values Marriott points at 0.85 cents each, according to our September 2024 valuations.
TPG generally advises against using Marriott points for non-award stays, as you will typically receive less value than our current valuation. So, is it still advisable to transfer your Marriott points to MGM Rewards?
Since Marriott points convert to MGM Rewards points at a 10:8 ratio, you'll receive 0.8 cents of value per point. While this is slightly lower than our valuation of 0.85 cents per Marriott point, it might be worthwhile for those looking to save on a hotel stay, dining expenses, or even a show.
Transferring your MGM Rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy is unlikely to be the best strategy for maximizing your rewards unless you find a hotel award deal that offers more than 1 cent per point in redemption value. However, if you need to boost your Marriott account to book your next award stay, it could be beneficial if you have plenty of MGM Rewards points available.
Keep in mind that both programs impose a limit of 30,000 transferred points per calendar year.
