A review of the Chase Lounge and Terrace at the US Open: Stylish lounges paired with tennis excitement

For 13 years, Chase has operated an exclusive lounge at the U.S. Open in Queens, New York, marking its initial venture into lounge offerings before launching its well-known Chase airport lounges.
This year, Chase has once again introduced its outdoor terrace, allowing guests to enjoy tennis from an elevated perspective while sipping cocktails in style.
The lounge features a fun Chase ATM dispensing swag, a photo opportunity for tennis enthusiasts, and stations to borrow phone chargers. Even without access to the main lounge, there are plenty of activities to explore.
Chase has invited TPG back to the U.S. Open for 2024 to experience all the venues once more.
Discover what it's like to explore the different Chase experiences.
Chase Lounge at the U.S. Open

One of the most sought-after spots at the Open is the Chase Lounge. It operates from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. during day sessions and from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for evening sessions. You can enjoy it at the U.S. Open until September 8, located on the second floor of the Chase Center.

Amenities include air conditioning and plenty of space to relax (if you manage to secure a prized spot).

Inside, you'll discover numerous spots to unwind between matches, along with food, drinks, and various entertaining activities. Upon entering, you're welcomed into a spacious area with several interconnected rooms.

There are multiple seating areas offering captivating views from the floor-to-ceiling windows.

The restrooms are quite nice and had no waiting time during my visit — definitely a plus.

I really enjoyed the broadcast center that showcases live ESPN moments during the U.S. Open.
Welcoming staff greet you inside and provide drinks. Everyone appeared enthusiastic to assist.
During my morning visit, there was fresh fruit and Lavazza coffee available (both cold and hot). Additionally, free lemonade, iced tea, and ice water were offered. While you won't find a full meal here, you'll get a nice pick-me-up on the go.
You can also enjoy complimentary light snacks like fruit cups and pastries in the morning, along with soft drinks and a decent variety of alcoholic beverages—though the latter are not complimentary.
Domestic beers are priced at $15, while Heineken costs $15.50. For wine, Napa Cellars chardonnay, Daou rosé, and Franciscan Estate sauvignon blanc are all available for $19. Cocktails featuring Grey Goose or Dobel start at $21.
Make sure to pick up a complimentary Chase-branded baseball cap, a pair of socks, or a tote bag, and head to the back of the lounge to have your name embroidered on it when you arrive.
It's a fun moment to grab some swag, but be ready for a wait. You can collect your item later from a rack at the front.
The lounge wasn't overly crowded during my visit this time, but as shown in the photos from 2023, it can fill up quickly.
How to access the Chase Lounge at the U.S. Open
Gaining entry is not straightforward. As in previous years, all Chase cardholders qualify, including those with the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase Freedom Unlimited®, Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, and IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card.
To enjoy U.S. Open perks as a Chase cardholder, you must make a reservation or join the waitlist at ChaseGetsYouCloser.com.
Unfortunately, securing a reservation was quite challenging, even if you tried to sign up on the very first day they opened. Most people find themselves on a waitlist. Chase representatives mentioned that some individuals do get off the waitlist, but you shouldn't rely on that. With a bit of luck, you might secure a spot.
After checking in and entering the lounge, you'll be given a wristband that permits reentry. However, since the lounge has a capacity limit, you might have to wait to go back in if it’s full.
The lounge is located just inside the East Gate entrance of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. It's a short distance from the entrance used for the subway or the Long Island Rail Road.
Luckily, this isn't the only chance for Chase cardholders to enjoy a VIP experience at the tournament.
Chase Terrace at the U.S. Open
I actually preferred the Chase Terrace over the Chase Lounge because it was outdoors and offered stunning views of multiple tennis courts. Of course, it wasn't too hot during my visit, so your experience might vary.
Access is granted on a first-come, first-served basis and is exclusively for Chase cardholders.
After checking in on the ground floor, you can receive a bracelet and head upstairs. The Chase Terrace will be located on your left.
The terrace is situated in an outdoor hospitality area that offers expansive views of three tennis courts, along with a few cash bars. The bleachers provide seating for watching the matches, and complimentary lemonade, iced tea, and water are also available here.
There's a full bar available here, offering mixed drinks for purchase. You can order a Grey Goose Honey Deuce for $23, or enjoy a 20% discount on the signature drink—the Dobel spicy margarita—from Chase partner Dobel for $17.60.
There’s also a snack stand offering grab-and-go options like Skinny Pop popcorn.
Another very popular feature was the IHG cobranded amenities bar.
Guests can choose one item from the bar, which includes options like a fan, hand sanitizer, Evian face mist, or even luxurious La Roche-Posay sunscreen.
There are also several shaded spots featuring soft, cushioned lounge chairs. Last year, I overheard a woman express how much she felt like a VIP in this area. Indeed, I would have gladly spent a few hours here myself.
There's no need to book a spot for the terrace; it's open continuously from morning to night, welcoming visitors from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. It's an excellent place to catch a match or two.
Show your Chase card to snag some free goodies!
As you approach the Chase Terrace entrance, you'll notice additional Chase-themed areas, like the "Magic ATM" that gives out fun items instead of cash. Prizes include fanny packs, sunglasses, fans, seat upgrades, and much more.
There was an amazing feature that allowed users to feel as if they had just clinched victory at the U.S. Open. We had TPG writer Caroline Tanner give it a try, and it brought smiles all around.
Chase charging stations
A standout feature from Chase is their charging stations; simply text a code to Chase, and you'll receive a fully charged power bank to keep your phone powered throughout the day. A charger is dispensed as soon as you send the text displayed on the screen.
When you're finished, simply return it to one of the many large blue mailbox-like stations scattered across the grounds. You'll spot these charging centers throughout the U.S. Open campus and in the main lounge area.
Chase Sapphire at Seaport
If you can't travel to Queens but still want a taste of the event, Chase has set up another lounge on the rooftop of Pier 17 in Manhattan's Seaport district. This lounge features seasonal cocktails, exclusive menu options, a dedicated seating area, games, and charging stations. Remember to show your Reserve card to gain entry.
The Chase Sapphire Reserve Lounge at The Seaport is situated at 19 Fulton Street in New York City.
During the summer, Chase also hosts concerts and various events at Pier 17 in Manhattan. A highlight includes a live recording session featuring Tennis Hall of Fame member Andy Roddick on August 28. Check out Chase's events website for tickets.
Final thoughts
There's plenty to enjoy at the U.S. Open, even without tickets to the matches. Numerous sponsored venues are available, and Chase customers can access some fantastic free perks.
Although reservations for the Chase Lounge are fully booked, you can still join the waitlist. Personally, I believe the Chase Terrace is the true highlight, offering a chance to be near the tennis action, even if you can't get match tickets or access the Chase Lounge.
