Airbnb is celebrating 'The Phantom of the Opera' by offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stay overnight at the Palais Garnier.

Why settle for ordinary when you can experience something extraordinary?
To honor Broadway’s longest-running production, Airbnb is inviting two guests to spend the night at the Palais Garnier in Paris, the legendary venue that inspired both the famous novel and musical.
On April 16, 'The Phantom of the Opera' will conclude its incredible run in New York City after over 35 years, having been performed in 15 countries before its final curtain call.

To mark its stunning legacy, Airbnb has partnered with the Opera National de Paris to transform the Palais Garnier's prestigious Box of Honour into a lavish bedroom. Once reserved for dignitaries, this opulent space will feature red and gold decor, with design touches inspired by 'The Phantom of the Opera.' Guests will enjoy a panoramic view of the stage and auditorium from the comfort of their room.
'Phans' will have the chance to live out their Phantom dreams by booking a night in the legendary Palais Garnier, where the story first came to life. According to Airbnb, guests will even get to explore the building’s eerie underworld, including the real underground lake where the Phantom once resided, as featured in the novel.

The evening is packed with exclusive entertainment. A private ballet performance by the dancers of the Opera de Paris Ballet will take place, followed by a recital from the artists of the Paris Opera Academy. Guests will enjoy champagne and hors d’oeuvres, with dinner served in the historic Foyer de la Danse, where dancers once warmed up before performances.
Gaston Leroux, the author of 'Le Fantôme de l’Opéra,' set his famous novel in the Palais Garnier. The iconic opera house in Paris was commissioned by French Emperor Napoleon III during the Second Empire.

Leroux's novel was inspired by actual events at the Palais Garnier during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Initially published in serial form in Le Gaulois in the early 1900s, it later sparked Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical 'The Phantom of the Opera.'
"My great-grandfather’s timeless tale has touched the hearts of so many over the years," said Véronique Leroux, the great-granddaughter of the famed French novelist. "Now is the perfect moment to honor his legacy and offer 'phans' the unique opportunity to experience the iconic setting of his beloved story with a once-in-a-lifetime stay."
Starting at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT on March 1, Airbnb will open a single online reservation for the Palais Garnier. The exclusive one-night stay will take place on July 16, 2023, and will cost just 37 euros, a nod to the opera box number.
