If you hold status in either program and are keen to acquire American AAdvantage elite status or World of Hyatt elite status for a limited time—and possibly extend it for over a year—read on.
Accelerate your journey to AAdvantage elite status.
ZACH GRIFF/DinogoAmerican Airlines is reaching out to select AAdvantage members who have linked their World of Hyatt and AAdvantage accounts. If you’re a Hyatt elite member and have connected your accounts, check your email to see if you've been chosen for an Instant Status Pass. We've noted offers for World of Hyatt Globalists to receive complimentary AAdvantage Platinum Pro status, with other Hyatt elite members potentially qualifying for different AAdvantage status levels.
If you qualify, your email will provide details on how to register. Act quickly—this offer concludes on Sept. 5.
Key information
As the name implies, the Instant Status Pass grants immediate status. Per the terms and conditions: "Your complimentary AAdvantage® status will be active within 24 hours of registration. It might take an additional 24 hours for your new benefits to apply to current bookings."
If you wish to prolong your status beyond the four-month promotional period, the Instant Status Pass offers a status challenge. Achieve the following Loyalty Point targets within the first four months to earn an extra four months of status:
- Accumulate 13,000 Loyalty Points for Gold status
- Accumulate 25,000 Loyalty Points for Platinum status
- Accumulate 42,000 Loyalty Points for Platinum Pro status
- Accumulate 67,000 Loyalty Points for Executive Platinum status
If you meet one of these targets during the initial four months (Phase 1), you'll receive another four-month extension (Phase 2) to extend your status again, followed by a similar Phase 3. Achieving the Loyalty Point goals for a specific status in all three phases will grant you that status for the remainder of the current membership year. However, failing to meet at least the Gold requirements in any phase will result in the loss of your complimentary AAdvantage status.
Loyalty Points function as a distinct currency from AAdvantage miles, utilized for attaining elite status with American. There are numerous ways to earn them, including flying with American, spending on co-branded credit cards, linking your card to AAdvantage Dining, and utilizing the AAdvantage eShopping portal.
Remember that AAdvantage restricts the number of promotions you can join: "If you engage in this Instant Status Pass™ promotion, you cannot participate in any other Instant Status Pass promotion for 24 months after registering for this one." Only sign up now if you will make good use of your complimentary status and/or plan to extend it. If you're uncertain about maximizing this offer, it might be wiser to wait for the next opportunity.
Accelerate your journey to World of Hyatt elite status.
American AAdvantage elite members now have a quicker route to earning World of Hyatt status through February 2026. Additionally, you can enjoy Explorist status for 90 days simply by registering.
If you haven't utilized a similar offer this calendar year, you can register for this one on Hyatt's website until Oct. 31. After registration, you'll enter a 90-day trial phase where you'll benefit from World of Hyatt Explorist status.
To retain Explorist status through February 2026, complete 10 tier-qualifying nights at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts globally and at qualifying Mr & Mrs Smith hotels and resorts during your trial period.
HYATTIt gets even better for elite American AAdvantage members at higher tiers. Those with Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum status can also achieve World of Hyatt Globalist status through February 2026 by completing at least 20 tier-qualifying nights during their Explorist trial period.
American AAdvantage elite members can log in and register at this page on Hyatt's website. However, the terms specify that you must have "already successfully linked your AAdvantage® account to your World of Hyatt® account." Thus, you may not qualify if your American and Hyatt accounts aren't linked.
Key information
Before proceeding to register for this offer, it’s essential to grasp some important details.
For instance, while you'll enjoy the perks of Explorist status during your trial period, you won't receive any club lounge access awards. These awards are granted through Milestone Rewards, not through status itself. Similarly, even if you meet the criteria to maintain Explorist or attain Globalist status through February 2026, you will only earn Milestone Rewards as you fulfill the qualifying nights or accumulate base points for each tier throughout the calendar year.
MARTIN VAN HEMERT/HYATTTo have a stay counted toward this tier trial offer, you must check out during your Explorist trial period. If you check out after this period concludes, none of the nights from that stay will count. While you can earn tier-qualifying nights using the World of Hyatt Credit Card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, those nights won't contribute to this promotion.
If you successfully fulfill the 10-night requirement for Explorist status or the 20-night requirement for Globalist status, your new status will be reflected in your account within seven business days after checking out from the stay that helped you exceed the necessary threshold. This status will remain valid until February 2026.
Lastly, be sure to time your registration wisely. The 90-day trial status (and the timeframe to reach 10 or 20 nights) begins when you complete your registration.
Bottom line
If you’re a World of Hyatt elite member who has linked your Hyatt and AAdvantage accounts, check your email to see if you've been selected for American's Instant Status Pass. Keep in mind that after registering for this promotion, you won't qualify for any other Instant Status Pass promotions for two years. If you choose to register, do so by Sept. 5.
As an AAdvantage elite, you might want to take advantage of Hyatt's status match if World of Hyatt Explorist status would benefit you on an upcoming stay. This offer is also valuable if you're working toward qualifying for Explorist or Globalist status, especially for AAdvantage elite members with Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum status, but are still a few nights short. Remember, earning Hyatt Milestone Rewards requires the usual base points or tier-qualifying nights, even if you use this trial tier status offer to reach your desired level. Be sure to register on Hyatt's website by Oct. 31.
