This Monday marks the return of one of the world's premier sporting events. The 2024 US Open Tennis Championships is back at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, concluding the year’s Grand Slam season. Approximately 700,000 fans are anticipated to flock to Queens for this event. Event Schedule

The ticketed main draw of the US Open is scheduled from August 26 to September 8, coinciding with Labor Day weekend. However, the excitement begins a week earlier with Fan Week. From August 19-25, attendees can enjoy free access to the tennis center grounds, where they can watch qualifying matches, practice sessions, and more. On August 21, there will be a tennis exhibition featuring an impressive lineup of star players and US Open legends. With a variety of entertainment, food, and beverages available, it serves as a sneak peek of what's in store for the second week. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) typically unveils the schedule of play a few days before the tournament kicks off.

How to Get There

Located within New York City, Flushing Meadows is approximately 11 miles from central Manhattan, situated in the far eastern part of Queens. Driving is generally not advisable due to heavy traffic, particularly near the tennis center's entrance, especially when the New York Mets are playing at nearby CitiField during the tournament. The most convenient way to reach the tennis matches is via public transportation. Visitors can take the 7 subway line to the Mets-Willets Point station or catch the Long Island Railroad, which offers direct service from Penn Station, Grand Central, Woodside, and all stops along the Port Washington line. If you must drive, there is a designated Uber and Lyft pickup and drop-off area at the far end of the grounds, near the South Gate. For a more luxurious option, consider arriving by boat or helicopter.
