Sint Maarten and Saint Martin are not the same. While they share an island, they are separate nations. Saint Martin, located in the less-developed northern two-thirds, is a French Overseas Collectivity with Marigot as its capital.

When organizing your highly anticipated shopping spree in Philipsburg, be sure to check the cruise port schedule. While the port is well-equipped, large crowds can pose a challenge. During the 2023 winter season, a staggering six ships docked on the same day, bringing in 30,349 visitors.
My favorite activity in Sint Maarten
As a passionate traveler, I thought the landing path over Maho Bay wouldn’t capture my attention, but I was completely mistaken. The number of photos and videos on my phone confirms I was just as mesmerized as every other tourist in Sint Maarten.
My inner child emerged, and I found myself in awe of planes of all sizes gliding over the stunning blue water. The atmosphere was electric as beachgoers cheered, clapped, jumped, and waved to the arriving aircraft.
