The resort is set along the gentle coastal bluffs of a peninsula above a secluded beach, although you might find yourself spending more time at one of the three main swimming pools instead of in the ocean, as currents can be strong and sand diminishes at high tide. The hotel features several restaurants and a few upscale amenities, including a compact gym and a small spa.

Situated near Anse aux Poules Bleues in the Baie Lazare district on the southwestern coast of Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles, it allows for easy access without the need for costly interisland flights once you arrive in the country.

The drive from Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) to the resort takes about 45 minutes, crossing Mahe's central mountain range, with taxi fares ranging from $80 to $100 each way (be sure to carry cash, as most taxis do not accept credit cards).

Accommodations at Mango House Seychelles

In May, I redeemed Hilton Honors points for two award nights at Mango House Seychelles, staying in a standard Deluxe twin room. I was hoping for an upgrade (ideally to a king bed) due to my Hilton Honors Diamond status from having the Hilton Aspire card. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Given the hotel's limited capacity and the Seychelles' popularity during that season, it appeared that Mango House was nearly fully booked.

My room, number 33, was positioned at the far end of the resort, furthest from the entrance and highest on the bluffs, providing stunning views of Anse La Mouche Bay. While it was close to the property's perimeter wall and a small road, it remained quite peaceful.

Spanning nearly 500 square feet, the room felt incredibly spacious and featured a breezy colonial-chic design with high wood-beamed ceilings, polished hardwood floors, and two elegantly draped canopy double beds adorned with white linens and delicate baby-blue stitching.

The slender wooden table beneath the wall-mounted flat-screen TV cleverly served as a workspace. However, during the cooler mornings and evenings, I preferred to move my laptop to the private balcony to enjoy the fast free Wi-Fi alongside the refreshing sea breezes.

The room was equipped with plenty of plugs and USB-A ports, along with a delightful welcome gift of plantain and coconut chips, plus macarons, which I may have indulged in as a morning snack alongside coffee brewed in the minibar's Nespresso machine.

The entryway featured ample closet space and opened through sliding wooden doors into a spacious bathroom adorned with granite tiles, offering dual vanities and separate areas for the toilet and the walk-in shower, complete with both overhead and handheld showerheads.

The hotel provides locally crafted Belleriche skin and hair products in generously sized bottles, along with colorful, lightweight robes featuring vibrant designs created by Seychelles-based artist Alyssa Adams.

Dining Experiences at Mango House Seychelles

Mango House Seychelles boasts five restaurants and bars, meaning you may find no reason to leave the hotel during your stay. However, if you wish to explore, it's easy to venture into nearby towns for additional dining options.

Muse

Muse serves as the hotel's all-day dining venue. Lunch and dinner combine Italian flavors with local Seychellois ingredients, featuring dishes like red snapper carpaccio drizzled with passion-fruit vinaigrette and accompanied by seaweed chips ($32), black truffle and burrata pizza ($38.50), and king tiger prawns served with zucchini scapece ($70). Since I only had two nights at the hotel, I chose to skip dinner at Muse.

This is also where breakfast is offered, so each morning of my stay, I claimed a table on the terrace to enjoy the sound of the waves while savoring plates of tropical fruits and freshly baked pastries.

Servers would periodically circulate with plates of fresh vegetables, charcuterie, and cheeses for guests to help themselves. You could also order as many small à la carte dishes as you desired, including indulgent roasted banana pancakes topped with dulce de leche and nutritious avocado toast on rye with pomegranate seeds.

Soley Bar

Soley Bar, located by the hotel's eye-shaped main pool near the entrance, is a charming open-air lounge and restaurant serving tropical cocktails and light bites daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. I opted out of the drinks since a server provided an ice bucket filled with bottled water, but I enjoyed a tandoori chicken wrap with cucumber and tangy raita sauce ($31) that was perfect for lunch.

Kokoye

Make sure to check the sunset times each day so you can secure one of the outdoor tables at Kokoye, the cocktail bar located one floor above the reception. While the interior boasts beautiful decor featuring Seychellois flora, plush velvet banquettes, and wicker furniture with fans, the balcony tables offer stunning panoramic views that are hard to resist.

As night falls, you might spot the island's giant bats soaring through the sky or hear their chatter from the trees nearby.

The drink menu features a variety of botanical-infused cocktails, including a martini made with jasmine tea-infused gin, elderflower liqueur, and vermouth ($15.60), a rich and earthy dark chocolate rum Old-Fashioned ($15.60), and a tangy, frothy five-spice rum sour ($15.60).

Azido

Enjoy a delightful outdoor dinner at the hotel's Japanese-inspired restaurant, Azido, where you can savor ultra-fresh local fish and seafood. Indulge in bluefin tuna sashimi ($49) alongside specialties like scallop and tiger shrimp truffle gyoza ($35.50) and generous hand rolls, such as the one filled with soft-shell crab, avocado, and cucumber ($31).

Moutya

Enjoy a romantic evening at the hotel's Creole restaurant, typically set outdoors unless the weather turns unfavorable. The menu boasts signature offerings like a crunchy Desroches Island heart of palm salad ($25), red snapper ceviche infused with coconut milk ($28), and a rich snapper curry accompanied by fluffy coconut rice and a refreshing cucumber satini salad ($37).

Facilities and activities at Mango House Seychelles

• The primary infinity pool, situated next to the lobby, offers breathtaking views over the bay and is equipped with numerous daybeds for lounging.
• The lively eye-shaped pool is complemented by Soley Bar and features a small stretch of sand perfect for wading into the bay.
• The tranquil, elevated pool at the far end of the property boasts a shaded deck, making it ideal for afternoon relaxation.
• There are lounge chairs available on the lawn that overlooks the hotel’s small main beach, though caution is advised due to strong tides.
• The compact fitness center includes a variety of Technogym cardio machines and weights.
• Above the lobby, Anpe Spa provides treatments such as a purifying facial with a coconut-charcoal clarifying scrub (75 minutes; $168). As a Hilton Honors Diamond elite member, I enjoyed a complimentary 20-minute mango balm foot massage.
• The hotel can assist with booking on-site activities like cooking classes, as well as off-property excursions including jungle hikes, yacht charters, and scuba diving trips.

Insider tips for a great stay at Mango House Seychelles

• Points redemption may not always yield the best value, especially when room rates drop below $500; always verify your calculations before redeeming and consider opting for a higher-category room for extra amenities.

• While staying here saves you the journey to a remote island, you will miss out on the secluded beaches and reefs perfect for snorkeling, so plan to book some activities.

Accessibility

The main structure of Mango House Seychelles houses the lobby, infinity pool, most bars and restaurants, the gym, and the spa, all of which are wheelchair accessible, featuring ramps and elevators for easy navigation between levels.

For guests with mobility challenges, the hotel provides buggy service to transport them to their rooms. However, wheelchair users may find it challenging to navigate the sometimes uneven paths and access the pools, which lack chair lifts.

There is a wheelchair-accessible King Deluxe room equipped with a 32-inch-wide door and various accessible features, including lowered beds, counters, and controls, as well as grab bars in the bathroom and emergency pull cords.
