Bangkok Unveils Thailand's Tallest Dining Experience

While Bangkok is famed for its vibrant street food culture, the city's upscale dining scene has flourished in recent years, offering food enthusiasts even more reasons to visit the Thai capital.
Two Bangkok establishments secured spots on the 2019 World’s Best Restaurant list, and in 2017, Michelin introduced its dining guide for the city, with 26 restaurants receiving stars, along with one in Phuket.
Now, a new fine dining destination elevates Bangkok’s food and drink scene to even greater heights.

Opened in early July, Mahanakhon Bangkok SkyBar now claims the title of Thailand’s highest restaurant and bar, occupying the 76th and 77th floors of the King Power Mahanakhon skyscraper, standing 314 meters (1,030 feet) above the city.
Described as a “modern brasserie,” SkyBar offers a fusion of Western and Asian flavors, with a menu curated by American executive chef Joshua Cameron, previously of New York’s Eleven Madison Park, crowned World’s Best Restaurant in 2017.
Among the standout dishes sampled by Dinogo Travel during a recent visit were Andaman sea bass with a Thai nahm jim seafood sauce emulsion, Hokkaido uni panna cotta, and a tender plate of Australian 48-hour short ribs paired with couscous, grapes, and eggplant.

The menu is complemented by an extensive selection of classic cocktails and over 100 wines to choose from.
After taking in the breathtaking city views, diners will discover an array of unique details within the spectacular setting. Designed by Tristan Auer and his team at Wilson Associates, the space blends French sophistication with Thai-inspired motifs.
It’s highly recommended to book a table in the magnificent outdoor dining area, enclosed by glass walls for panoramic views.
According to the design brief from Wilson Associates, the outdoor terrace concept embraces the idea of an urban jungle, enveloping diners in lush greenery to create the sensation of dining in a forest suspended in the sky.
Complimentary access to the SkyWalk.
One of the perks of dining at SkyBar is the convenient access to the Mahanakhon SkyWalk, located just two floors above.
Standing at a towering 314 meters (1,030 feet), this observation deck and rooftop bar offers unrivaled 360-degree views of the sprawling cityscape below.
The main highlight of the SkyWalk is the heart-pounding glass floor that extends out over the building's edge. Visitors must wear protective fabric booties before stepping onto the platform.

Completed in 2016, it earned the title of 'Thailand’s tallest building,' surpassing the former record-holder, Baiyoke Tower II, a 304-meter hotel built in 1997.
However, Mahanakhon’s reign as the tallest was brief—Magnolias Waterfront Residences claimed the crown in 2018, according to the Skyscraper Center.
Despite its brief stint at the top, Mahanakhon continues to be one of the city's most striking structures, with its signature three-dimensional 'pixel' design cascading down the steel and glass façade, achieved through innovative 'sky boxes.'

The skyscraper boasts 78 floors, with the first 18 dedicated to the soon-to-open Orient-Express hotel.
From floors 23 to 73, you'll find the Ritz-Carlton Residences, home to 209 luxury apartments, including the exclusive SkyResidences, ranging from 125 to 844 square meters (2-5 bedrooms), all managed by Ritz-Carlton.
Levels 74 through 78 are home to the observatory, restaurant, and bar, offering panoramic views of the city.
Mahanakhon Bangkok SkyBar is located at 114 Naradhiwat Rajanagarindra Rd, Bangkok; +66 2 677 8722; Open daily from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
