Banyan Tree set to launch its first hotel in Japan
Banyan Tree is heading to Kyoto.
Brand representatives revealed this week that they intend to unveil a new property in the historic city during the third quarter of this year. Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto will offer 52 guest rooms, a Banyan Tree Spa, and two dining options.
Situated on the site of the former Hotel Ryozen, the property is near Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Kodai-ji Temple. Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto will also feature the Higashiyama Onsen hot spring and will be the only hotel in Kyoto to include a Noh stage, dedicated to the 650-year-old traditional Japanese art form focused on supernatural themes involving ghosts and deities.
BANYAN TREEThe guest rooms designed by Yukio Hashimoto will showcase traditional Japanese elements, including spacious cypress wood bathtubs, tatami mats, and gold leaf details. These rooms are crafted to embody a sense of understated and serene beauty.
The luxury brand is renowned for its focus on authentic local experiences at its hotels, such as Banyan Tree Phuket, the brand's inaugural location, and Buahan, a Balinese resort within Banyan Tree's Escape sub-brand. Expanding into Japan aligns perfectly with the brand's strategy, considering the country’s booming international tourism.

Reservations and exclusive opening deals are now available for stays starting July 26.
