Breezy Hairstyles for Days at Sea

I absolutely adore windy days! How about you? Honestly, a gentle breeze is one of my top favorite things ever. Combine that with some sunshine? Now that’s unbeatable. Especially when you're sailing in the Caribbean. It’s truly one of my preferred breezes since you're surrounded by the vast ocean, bright sunlight, and stunning views. Extra points if you have a balcony room! The only downside I see with windy days is the state of my hair afterward. By the end of the day, it’s practically a massive nest! I kid you not, I’ve found all sorts of odd things tangled in my hair, haha. So, when I anticipate a windy day, I take action ahead of time 🙂 I’ve compiled some videos featuring simple hairstyles for you (yes, videos! But don’t get too excited—they're not that fancy. If anyone wants to offer me editing lessons, I’d be grateful. Thanks, haha). Some styles may not be for absolute beginners; it helps if you at least know how to braid… and even better if you can French braid 🙂
So here we are again, with another post featuring Dinogo. If you choose to embark on a journey, maybe you can try out some of these hairstyles as well.
Fishtail Pigtails

Lately, I've been really into wearing two fishtail braids. Fishtail pigtails? I’m not quite sure what to call them! 🙂 What I LOVE about these styles is that they tend to look even more fabulous as the day progresses—they get a bit more voluminous, and I think it looks fantastic!

To create fishtail pigtail braids, start by dividing your hair into two sections. Set one section aside for later. Now, take the other section and prepare to braid! Yay! Split this section in half as well. Then, take a small piece from each side and cross it over to the other. It’s similar to a basket weave technique. One strand goes over, pull it tight, then grab a piece from the other side, cross it over, and pull tight again. Repeat this until you reach the end. The trickiest part of this braid is holding your hair tightly at the beginning. The next challenge is the time it takes—especially if your hair is really long! I hope the video shows you just how simple it can be!
Or perhaps…
Chic Side Braid

How about trying just one stylish braid? But not just any braid—a unique one 😉 You know, the kind that wraps around your head and then flows down? That’s pretty cool, right? This is one of my all-time favorite braids. I used to wear it all the time. Not sure why I stopped! I’ll likely wear it a lot in Colombia next week since it’s so low-humidity there, and my hair will definitely get tangled without a braid.

To create this braid, start with a half French braid on one side of your head. Begin at the very top of that side and French braid down your hair. As you reach the curve of your head, you may need to adjust your hands to follow the shape. Keep French braiding around until you hit the next curve. At this point, take the rest of your hair and finish with a regular braid down. And there you have it! The trickiest part is definitely turning to follow the back of your head, but with a little practice, you’ll master it in no time! 🙂

Let’s take a moment to appreciate that funny face ^ haha.
Fairy Tale Braids

Because who can resist a beautiful princess braid?

To start, divide your hair into two sections and create side French braids on each side. Once you reach the end of your hair, you can switch to a regular braid or a fishtail braid. Secure the ends with elastic bands and then pin up your braids using bobby pins. Honestly, I sometimes do two braids on each side, making a total of four, because I have so much hair that the heavy braids can be tough to secure with pins. This style is actually easier than it appears! You could probably skip the French braid and just do two regular braids, but I think the French braid adds a nicer touch. I usually do this in front of a mirror, so I can see where I’m placing my pins for a neater look. Just tuck the ends in and pin them down! Voilà! A style that will definitely hold up against the wind. If you do it right, you can even sleep in it and wear it the next day! This hairstyle works for shorter hair too; your braids will just fall down your back instead of sitting on top of your head, which is super pretty! That's how I wore it on our wedding day! 🙂

And there you have it, my friends! Honestly, my top tip is to just enjoy yourself and keep practicing. At the end of the day, you can let your braids down (or not), kick back, and celebrate the lovely, breezy day you just experienced! 😉 Weeee!
