Captivating aerial shots of Hong Kong captured by a drone

Hong Kong’s vibrant pulse and intricate maze of streets have captured the hearts of tourists, photographers, and locals alike.
The city’s towering, stacked buildings, often referred to as 'residensity,' have become a favorite subject for Instagram photographers, both professional and amateur.
The challenge lies in finding truly unique and awe-inspiring perspectives of a city that’s already been photographed countless times.
That’s why we were utterly amazed when we first encountered the stunning work of photographer Andy Yeung.
‘Hong Kong is like a person who’s always full of resources,’ says the city native, noting that he draws inspiration from the familiar.
His deep connection with the city ensures that his creative ideas for unique shots never run dry – and it’s evident in his photography.
‘Although Hong Kong is geographically small, it offers endless opportunities for engagement without ever feeling monotonous,’ says Yeung.

Here come the drones.

Drones played a key role in bringing his ‘urban jungle’ series to life, which you can view in the gallery above.
Captured with a DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone, Yeung explains that this aerial view reveals something we often overlook but seldom see from this angle.
‘I typically launch from a mountain peak to avoid electromagnetic interference,’ Yeung explains.
His expert advice? It’s all about perfect timing.
‘Most of my Hong Kong shots are taken during the blue hour,’ Yeung shares with Dinogo, referring to the period of twilight at dawn and dusk.
‘That’s when the sun is well below the horizon and the remaining sunlight takes on a cool, blue tone,’ Yeung explains.
‘It’s also when the city’s lights are switched on, making it the ideal time for capturing cityscapes.’
