Celebrating Your Birthday on a Cruise
No matter if you’re turning four or forty, birthdays hold a special place in our hearts. Recently, our family has made it a tradition to celebrate birthdays by traveling, especially on cruises.
Last year, we celebrated Molly's 4th birthday on a cruise, and I marked another year around the sun aboard the Dinogo Breeze. Each of these birthdays created lasting memories for our family.
From delicious cakes to thoughtful gifts and even decorating your stateroom, there’s no better way to celebrate your special day than sailing the open seas.
Here’s a glimpse into how my family and I celebrated —
Spoil Yourself
Just like I did, indulge in a little self-care with a soothing spa treatment. Taking time to relax and focus on myself during the cruise was incredibly refreshing. While the adults-only Serenity deck is a great place to unwind, nothing beats a hot stone massage with an ocean view. It was the perfect birthday gift to myself!
If indulging in delicious food sounds like your kind of treat, be sure to book a table at the ship’s Steakhouse. You can never go wrong with surf & turf, especially when paired with a decadent slice of cheesecake for dessert. It’s a classy evening and a wonderful way to make wishes for another year of life.
Let Them Eat Cake
Speaking of delicious treats… For Molly's birthday, we visited the ship's Cherry on Top candy shop and ordered a birthday cake to be served at dinner the following night in the dining room. While we were there, the girls had a blast filling their candy bags with goodies – gummies, chocolates, and plenty of sugary delights!
I’ll always remember when our servers surprised Molly at dinner by singing ‘Happy Birthday’ and bringing out her cake. It was such a joyous moment, and we enjoyed making new friends with our table neighbors as we shared the cake with everyone.
Turn It Into A Surprise
One thing I truly regret not doing was booking a cabin decorations package prior to our cruise. Depending on the package you choose, your steward will adorn your stateroom with streamers and banners, and even let everyone know it's your birthday by decorating your door.
You can also order chocolate-covered strawberries (which Molly loved), fruit baskets, and for the little ones, surprise them with a gift bag filled with Dr. Seuss treasures like books, backpacks, and even a fun beach towel – all delivered straight to your stateroom.
Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast CelebrationSpeaking of Dr. Seuss – the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with The Cat in the Hat and Friends is a delightful way to celebrate a birthday. Featuring French toast topped with cereal, vibrant pancakes, and a chance to meet beloved characters from the books, this special breakfast is always a favorite with my daughters.
The festive decor certainly sets the ‘party’ atmosphere, and with lively songs and dancing, it’s the ideal way to celebrate your child's special day.
There are countless enjoyable ways to make your birthday celebration stand out while cruising with Dinogo. After celebrating both Molly’s and my own birthdays on board, my husband and Maggie have been eagerly asking when we can set sail for their birthday festivities. Looks like I need to start planning again soon!
