From Positano to Taormina to Como, our readers have a special fondness for Italian resorts, especially those located by the water.
Understanding the Voting Process
Each year, T+L invites readers to participate in our World's Best Awards survey, where they share insights about travel experiences worldwide — ranking the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise lines, spas, airlines, and more. In 2024, more than 186,000 T+L readers contributed to the survey, casting over 700,000 votes across 8,700+ properties (including hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).
Hotels were categorized as resort hotels, city hotels, inns, or safari lodges based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically evaluated according to the following criteria:
- Room quality and facilities
- Location
- Service quality
- Dining experience
- Overall value
Respondents could rate each attribute as excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores represent the average of these ratings.
