Dinogo Readers’ Top 3 Picks for Hong Kong City Hotels in 2024
With breathtaking views from every angle, exceptional service standards, and a vibrant dining scene that competes with the finest on the continent, Hong Kong is a captivating 426-square-mile metropolis housing around seven million residents. These qualities, which define Hong Kong as one of the globe's most-visited cities, contributed to the stellar ratings received by the three hotels in this year's World’s Best Awards survey. Following one of the strictest pandemic-induced border closures, ‘Asia’s World City’ and its luxurious hotels are excited to welcome travelers back, showcasing refreshed interiors and new dining options that reveal what has been missed.
Understanding the Voting Process
Each year, for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L invites readers to share their travel experiences worldwide, providing insights into the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. In 2024, over 186,000 T+L readers participated in the survey, casting a total of more than 700,000 votes across 8,700+ properties (including hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).
Hotels were categorized as resort hotels, city hotels, inns, or safari lodges based on their location and amenities, and they were evaluated according to the criteria listed below:
- Room features
- Location
- Quality of service
- Culinary offerings
- Overall value
For each attribute, respondents could select a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are calculated as averages of these responses.
Highlights from Readers
It’s official: After a three-year pandemic-related pause, Hong Kong has made a remarkable return to our annual World’s Best Awards. The city took longer than many to lift its border restrictions, but despite the delay, two prominent hotels have successfully rejoined this year’s rankings. Ranked No. 2, the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, has remained a city icon for sixty years, and it continues to impress: in 2021, it introduced a stunning top-floor Japanese izakaya with breathtaking views, along with its two Michelin-starred restaurants, Mah Wah and Mandarin Grill + Bar.
The Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong (No. 3), also situated in the Central District, was busy during the pandemic, upgrading its rooms and suites. Although it may not have the lengthy history of the Mandarin, it features one of the best pools in the city, providing incredible views of Victoria Harbour. The top spot went to a property described by one T+L reader as 'a rare oasis of subtle luxury.' Read on for further details.
The Champion
Regent Hong Kong Hotel

Its prime location directly on Victoria Harbor offers breathtaking views of both Hong Kong Island and the stunning skyline. The tranquil interior design allows you to momentarily escape the hustle and bustle of a city home to around seven million residents, as highlighted by T+L editor Susmita Baral. However, it’s not only about the aesthetics. “The culinary offerings are exceptional … The pool and spa areas are inviting and exquisite. The rooms are exceedingly comfortable,” commented another T+L reader. When it comes to dining, the hotel excels with everything from outstanding buffets to a Michelin-starred restaurant serving Cantonese dishes. It’s no surprise that the Regent is not just the premier destination in Hong Kong, but also ranks as one of the finest hotels in Asia (No. 2) and worldwide (No. 6) according to several other lists in the World’s Best Awards.
