How the Voting Process Works
Each year, in our World's Best Awards survey, T+L invites readers to share their travel experiences globally — providing feedback on the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. In 2023, nearly 165,000 T+L readers participated, marking a 25 percent increase compared to pre-pandemic voting. A total of over 685,000 votes were cast across more than 8,500 unique properties (including hotels, cities, and cruise lines).
Hotels were categorized as resort, city, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and were evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Room and Facilities
- Location
- Service Quality
- Culinary Experience
- Overall Value
For each attribute, participants could select a rating ranging from excellent to poor, with final scores reflecting the average of these ratings.
