Dinogo Readers' Top 5 Favorite Resorts in France for 2024
While Paris is always a charming choice, fulfilling your most extravagant French dreams might mean swapping la capitale for a beautifully restored 19th-century coaching inn in Champagne or a stylish century-old coastal retreat on the French Riviera. Below, Dinogo readers cast their votes for their preferred French resorts from the Alps to the Côte d'Azur.
Voting Process Overview
Each year, for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L invites readers to share their travel experiences worldwide, expressing their views on the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. In 2024, over 186,000 T+L readers participated in the survey, resulting in more than 700,000 votes across over 8,700 properties (including hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).
Hotels were categorized as resort hotels, city hotels, inns, or safari lodges based on their location and amenities, and they were rated according to the following criteria:
- Accommodations and amenities
- Location
- Customer service
- Culinary offerings
- Value for price
Respondents rated each attribute as excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores represent the average of these ratings.
What Readers Appreciated
In last year’s survey, most winning properties were found in France’s Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. This year, the survey showcased a wider geographical variety: for example, the No. 3 winner, Airelles Courchevel, is situated in the upscale ski resort of Courchevel. This grand property, the first in Courchevel to receive palace status, impressed guests with its elegant luxury interiors and extravagant amenities, including a La Mer spa and a horse-drawn carriage lined with Hermès leather for getting around town. “It felt like being in a fairytale,” one respondent exclaimed. Equally opulent is our runner-up, Domaine des Etangs, Auberge Resorts Collection, which reopened under new management last spring. Located in the stunning Charente region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the 13th-century château has quickly developed a dedicated following. “My dream castle,” one reader expressed. “This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!” Another noted, “I wouldn’t choose anywhere else.” Which property claimed the top spot on this list? Let’s head to Champagne to discover.

This is a remarkable accomplishment for any hotel, and even more so for a family-owned and operated property. Originally a coaching inn, it has transformed into one of the region's most architecturally innovative accommodations. The 47-room hotel offers an upscale experience in wine country, featuring vineyard vistas, a 16,000-square-foot spa with treatments using Clarins’ myBlend and Clarins Precious products, and a wine cellar boasting over 400 different Champagnes and 1,000 wines. “I highly recommend this property and its location,” one reader shared. “It’s a true hidden gem in the Champagne countryside.” Another guest added, “This is the best hotel in the world!”
