Each year, T+L invites readers to participate in the World's Best Awards survey, asking them to share their experiences with travel worldwide — including their thoughts on the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise lines, spas, airlines, and more. In the 2024 survey, over 186,000 readers participated, casting more than 700,000 votes across more than 8,700 properties (including hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).

Hotels were categorized as resort hotels, city hotels, inns, or safari lodges depending on their location and amenities, and were rated according to the criteria listed below:
