Disney Cruise Line shares exciting updates about its new ship, Destiny, including an unexpected home port.

Great news for Disney Cruise Line enthusiasts: You'll soon be able to embark from Fort Lauderdale's Port Everglades on a brand-new Disney vessel.
On Tuesday, Disney's cruise division announced that the third ship in its new Wish Class, Disney Destiny, will set sail from the South Florida port when it launches in late 2025.
This deployment of the 144,000-ton ship will be a historic first for Disney, as it places a new vessel at a port other than its primary hub, Port Canaveral.
This development comes as Disney expands its year-round operations from Port Everglades. In November, Disney began offering year-round sailings from Port Everglades with its 13-year-old Disney Dream and the 25-year-old Disney Magic.
The launch coincided with Disney's inaugural dedicated cruise terminal at the port.
Port Everglades is only the second location worldwide where Disney operates year-round, with Port Canaveral being the first.
New venues themed around heroes
On Tuesday, Disney revealed plans for new hero-themed venues aboard Disney Destiny that won't be available on the two previous ships in the Wish Class series. These include a unique dining experience inspired by the beloved animated film "The Lion King" and a candy shop themed after "The Incredibles."
As previously stated, Disney Destiny will feature a "heroes and villains" theme, setting it apart from other ships in the Wish Class fleet.

The inaugural ship of the Wish Class series, the two-year-old Disney Wish, showcases the theme "Enchantment," inspired by Disney's classic stories of dreams fulfilled. The second ship in this series, the upcoming Disney Treasure, embraces the theme of "Adventure," reflecting Walt Disney's passion for exploration.
The newly announced hero-themed venues for Disney Destiny are just the beginning of a series of exciting new spaces to be unveiled this week over several days.
"For Disney Destiny, we are excited to unveil entirely new cruise experiences inspired by the rich legends and legacies of Disney's most beloved heroes and villains," stated Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and senior manager of Disney Cruise Line, in an announcement. "From dining areas to guest rooms and all spaces in between, our guests will be immersed in remarkable storytelling, complemented by the signature service and family-friendly fun that defines a Disney Cruise vacation."
A new dinner show inspired by 'The Lion King'
The upcoming dining experience, titled "Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King," at Disney Destiny will be set in a savanna-inspired venue. This setting will feature captivating representations of wildlife and nature, enhanced by dynamic lighting and special effects, while the expansive back wall with windows will transition from breathtaking sunrises to magical sunsets during the meal.
While families enjoy their meals, a vibrant ensemble of live musicians and storytellers will perform in the restaurant's center, complete with tiered risers reminiscent of African drums. They will take guests on a musical journey featuring selections from the award-winning "The Lion King" soundtrack, as shared by Disney.

The entertainment will showcase beloved songs from the animated classic, including "Circle of Life" and "Hakuna Matata," along with a medley of "I Just Can't Wait to Be King" and "Be Prepared," emphasizing the hero-villain dynamic present in the story, as noted by Disney.
The restaurant will also feature a specially themed menu.
An 'incredible' candy shop
The new sweet shop, named Edna A La Mode Sweets, will draw inspiration from Edna Mode's laboratory, where the iconic fashion designer from Pixar's "The Incredibles" films designs superhero costumes.
Influenced by the short film "Auntie Edna," the lab's high-tech sewing tools "will be creatively transformed into candy-making devices designed to amuse Jack-Jack, the wildly unpredictable super baby," as noted in Disney's announcement.

The shop will offer a variety of handmade gelato, ice cream, cookies, candies, and specialty confections, all served amidst bolts of fabric, costume mannequins, and delightful sculptures of Edna and Jack-Jack.
Additional new venues
Among the new venues unveiled on Tuesday for Disney Destiny are two casual walk-up cafes located near the ship's central Grand Hall. One, Cafe Megara, honors the heroine from Disney's animated classic "Hercules" and celebrates the realm of ancient Greek gods and heroes. The other, Cafe Merida, draws inspiration from the fiery-haired protagonist of Pixar's "Brave," featuring a design that reflects her family's heritage from the Scottish Highlands, as shared by Disney.
"Hero-worthy" cabins and suites
Disney also announced further details about the cabins and suites being designed for Disney Destiny, describing them as "hero worthy."
Every accommodation on board will showcase artwork depicting the legendary adventures of iconic Disney heroes — a new thematic addition.
Like all Disney ships, the accommodations will cater to families, with the majority featuring Disney's signature split-bathroom design. Many rooms will also include connecting doors, allowing for the option of larger living spaces.
Among the available accommodation options will be concierge-class rooms adorned with "Fantasia" watercolor-style artwork. These rooms will offer access to exclusive amenities, including a concierge lounge and a private sun deck.
Additionally, seven exclusive ocean-view rooms located directly above the bridge will offer breathtaking views through floor-to-ceiling windows and will feature a theme inspired by "The Incredibles."
Other standout accommodations will consist of four Hero Suites designed to honor the heroes of "Hercules," featuring decor influenced by Greco-Roman architecture, colors, and patterns.
There will also be IncrediSuites inspired by "The Incredibles," featuring a sleek midcentury-modern design.
The Wish Class ships have been designed to include 1,258 cabins, accommodating 2,508 guests at double occupancy. When all pull-down bunks and sofa beds are utilized, the total capacity can increase to 4,000 passengers.
Disney Destiny is not currently available for bookings, and specific itineraries for the ship departing from Port Everglades have yet to be finalized.
