Disney has partnered with Brightline to establish a new train station offering direct access to Orlando International Airport from Miami.

Soon, travelers will have the option to ride a train straight to Florida's iconic Magic Kingdom.

Brightline announced a new train station at Disney Springs on Walt Disney World property, allowing passengers to connect to Orlando International Airport and South Florida when the service launches.

This new station is aimed at the millions of holiday visitors flocking to Disney's parks in Central Florida each year, providing a seamless train-to-resort transport experience and reducing the need for car rentals. It will also facilitate international tourists in exploring both the parks and South Florida in a single trip.

Patrick Goddard, Brightline's president, stated that the service will create a car-free option for the countless travelers from around the globe eager to include Walt Disney World Resort in their vacation itineraries.

The new Disney station arrives as more Americans opt for train travel for extended journeys. Beyond the famous Northeast Corridor connecting Boston, New York, and Washington D.C., rail services have expanded and ridership has surged in states like California, Virginia, and Florida, particularly following Brightline's launch. Plans for new or enhanced rail lines are in progress across the nation, including in Nevada, North Carolina, and Texas.

President-elect Joe Biden has expressed his support for enhancing passenger rail services in the United States. Any federal funding from his administration could be allocated to bolster Amtrak services as well as to support new private rail lines like Brightline.

The Disney Springs station is part of Brightline's broader expansion strategy. Alongside the approximately 140-mile extension of its Miami-to-West Palm Beach route to Orlando International Airport, expected to debut in 2022, Brightline is also developing three new stations in South Florida. Additionally, engineering and design efforts are underway for a route extension from Orlando to Tampa that will incorporate the new Disney station.

Brightline has also proposed the addition of a station at Fort Lauderdale (FLL) airport, which would be situated next to its existing South Florida tracks.

Brightline has yet to announce a specific timeline for the opening of the new Disney station.

The railroad is in the process of establishing a high-speed rail connection between Las Vegas and Victorville in Southern California. However, the project faced a setback in October when the company was unable to secure over $2 billion in bonds needed for its construction.

A proposed agreement that would have led to Brightline being rebranded as Virgin Trains USA fell through in August.

The railroad commenced operations between downtown Miami and West Palm Beach in 2018, but service has been on hold since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
