Earn up to 4x bonus points on your fall travel with the Amtrak Guest Rewards mystery offer

Amtrak has launched a new promotion that allows you to earn bonus points while enjoying train rides this fall. The Amtrak Guest Rewards Mystery Offer adds an exciting twist: after signing up, members will discover how many reward points they’ll receive based on their travel. With this offer, you can earn up to four times the usual points for your Amtrak journeys.

To participate, you must be a Guest Rewards member, so be sure to sign up (it's free) and register for the mystery offer. Guest Rewards points can be used for booking trips, upgrading seats, and accessing other travel experiences, making this a great way to boost your account. Additionally, fall is one of the best seasons to travel by train, particularly in the Northeast.

Passengers can earn bonus points on travel through October 31. Some restrictions apply, so make sure to review the terms and conditions of the offer.

How it works

Simply visit the Amtrak website and sign up for the promotion. Once registered, you can unlock the offer and discover the multiple of bonus points you'll earn.

As previously mentioned, you need to be a Guest Rewards member to take part in this promotion, so make sure to join the program first.

On Amtrak's Facebook page, some users mentioned receiving triple bonus points, while others on various travel forums reported unlocking the four-times bonus offer. Unfortunately, my mystery offer didn't yield the same luck, but I'm happy to settle for double points.

For instance, if you book a round-trip ticket from New York City's Moynihan Hall at Penn Station (NYP) to Union Station in Washington, D.C. (WAS) in late October, the Flex fare would be $137. With my unlocked offer doubling my points, I'd earn 4 points per dollar on this trip, since Guest Rewards members already earn 2 points for every dollar spent.
