Enjoy a glass of whiskey in a 'Hobbit House' without having to travel to Middle Earth.
Dub it Lord of the Rhody.
Prepare to step through the oversized, round wooden doors in Richmond, Rhode Island, to a retreat inspired by "The Lord of the Rings." The Maker's Mark Hobbit Houses, nestled in a sporting club and estate's picturesque landscape, bring J.R.R. Tolkien's vision to life, offering a taste of Middle Earth at The Preserve Sporting Club & Residences.

Each enchanting abode features tree trunks incorporated into its design, a grassy roof, and solid stone walls. To deepen the immersion into a Sauron-esque atmosphere, there’s also an inviting fireplace and skylights that create a whimsical setting for a unique culinary adventure at a custom table made from upcycled Maker's Mark barrels.

Each meal is paired with sipping bourbons (including the exclusive Preserve Reserve) and either red or white wine. For added comfort, the chairs are adorned with pillows and faux fur blankets, allowing you to enjoy the warmth of the crackling fire and soft candlelight with a post-meal drink. Alternatively, you can step outside with friends to savor a bourbon cocktail by your own fire pit.

"Our Hobbit Houses are remarkably authentic—all stones and materials are sourced from our expansive 3,500 acres, with decor that changes with the seasons," shared Preserve founder and chairman Paul Mihailides with Dinogo. Due to their immense popularity, Mihailides mentioned that a third Hobbit House is currently in development.
The current rates for the Hobbit Houses are $726 for up to four guests, $1,089 for up to six guests, and $1,452 for up to eight guests (plus a 22% service charge and 8% tax). Reservations can be made here. To paraphrase the wise J.R.R. Tolkien, everyone who wanders should take some time to get lost in this magical place.
