Explore the top 8 new hotels to have opened in the Catskills and Hudson Valley in 2022, offering a mix of luxury and rustic charm in one of New York's most scenic regions.

Following a surge of new retreats in 2020 and 2021, the hotel boom in the Catskills and Hudson Valley continues. Luxury brands are joining the scene, with Auberge Resorts Collection debuting its first New York property in the Hudson Valley on September 30, and the team behind the Chatwal in Manhattan launching a chic, rustic lodge in the western Catskills this spring.
For those on a budget, there are also plenty of new spots under $300 per night, including AutoCamp’s second East Coast glamping site near Woodstock and a renovated ski lodge close to Hunter Mountain. These eight new hotels make weekend getaways from NYC more enticing, no matter your price range.

Bluebird Hunter Lodge
Part of the Bluebird by Lark collection of revamped motels in the Northeast, Bluebird Hunter Lodge is a former ski lodge just two minutes from Hunter Mountain Resort. This 45-room boutique hotel features 1970s-inspired decor, and the best part is that rooms are available for under $300 per night. Open year-round, it’s perfect for skiers, hikers, and fall foliage enthusiasts.
Michelle Heimerman, Dinogo's photo editor, visited the lodge on a spontaneous weekend getaway to the Catskills shortly after its summer 2022 opening. She praised the spacious, ski lodge-inspired rooms, noting the stunning views of Hunter Mountain. Heimerman also recommends asking the front desk for their hiking guide, which includes a color-coded chart of nearly 20 trails nearby, ranging in difficulty and distance.

AutoCamp Catskills
AutoCamp Catskills, the luxury glamping brand’s second East Coast location, sits on 37 wooded acres between Saugerties and Woodstock. Guests can choose from the brand’s sleek Airstreams, as well as canvas sMytouri-style tents, cabins, and ADA-accessible X Suites, which resemble tiny houses.
Designed for those who want the outdoor experience without all the camping gear, AutoCamp features a self-checkout store in the Clubhouse at the heart of the resort, offering everything from firewood and bacon to local beer, coffee, and wine. The Clubhouse also has a bar where guests can relax by the retro-style fireplace while enjoying live music on weekends.
Though AutoCamp has nearly 100 campsites, each site feels private and peaceful, thanks to custom Airstreams that feature windows on just one side. Even the landscaping ensures you won’t be staring into another group’s campfire. Each Airstream can accommodate up to four guests with a queen bed and a futon in the living area. For larger groups, Basecamp sites offer room for up to six people with an Airstream and a canvas tent.

Wylder Windham
From the same team behind Wylder Hope Valley in California and Wylder Tilghman Island in Maryland, Wylder Windham opened in mid-July 2022 in the northern Catskills, about three hours north of Manhattan. Rather than focusing on new construction, Wylder specializes in rejuvenating existing properties in need of a makeover. Formerly known as the Thompson House Resort—originally opened in 1880 as a summer retreat for New Yorkers—Wylder Windham features seven separate buildings from different eras, including a Victorian manor and a 1980s motor lodge.
By late summer, four of the seven buildings had undergone renovations and were ready to welcome guests. All seven are expected to be available by November. The renovations, which include rustic chic decor and brand-new furnishings, also winterized each building to ensure it stays open year-round. This is especially convenient, as Windham Mountain is only a three-minute drive away.
As a true four-season resort, Wylder Windham offers a massive pool open until 9 p.m. during the summer, two pickleball courts, an on-site restaurant and bakery, and swimming access to Batavia Kill, a creek that wraps around the property. With over 100 rooms and ample event space, it’s perfect for a wedding, work retreat, or a weekend getaway with friends.

Little Cat Lodge
Opened in August 2022, Little Cat Lodge is nestled where the Hudson Valley meets the Berkshires on the New York-Massachusetts border. Formerly known as the Swiss Hutte, this nearly 100-year-old, 14-room hotel underwent a careful renovation by Noah Bernamoff and Matt Kliegman, the duo behind NYC hotspots like Grand Army and Pebble Bar. The design preserves its alpine-inspired charm with vintage art, custom maple wood beds sourced from nearby Catamount Mountain, and collaborations with Hudson Valley’s Loveisenough studio.
Open year-round, Little Cat Lodge offers guests access to a summer pool and barrel saunas, while winter visitors can easily walk to the slopes of Catamount Mountain Resort. The hotel’s two on-site restaurants, the Tavern and the Dining Room, are helmed by Chef Jason Bond, formerly of Boston’s Bondir Cambridge and Clover Food Lab.

The Bungalows at Kenoza Hall
Foster Supply Hospitality, known for their western Catskills hotels like DeBruce and Hotel Darby, first opened Kenoza Hall in 2020, a charming 22-room property in a historic 1900s boarding house. In June 2022, the 55-acre lakeside property expanded with 10 quaint clapboard bungalows, evoking a nostalgic vibe straight out of Dirty Dancing. Eight of these bungalows feature one-bedroom layouts with king-sized beds, private porches, cozy living rooms with gas stoves, and oversized soaking tubs (some in the bedroom, others in the bathroom). For larger groups, there’s a two-bedroom bungalow with a shared common space and separate en suite bathrooms. The largest, the Grand Lake Bungalow, boasts a spacious bedroom, two bathrooms, two decks, and a generously sized living area ideal for entertaining or meetings.
The Bungalows' design blends seamlessly with the main hotel’s English garden aesthetic, with floral wallpaper adorning entryway ceilings and the space behind the green velvet headboards. Each custom armoire hides a mini bar, complete with running water so you can easily fill the kettle without going to the bathroom. The fridge is stocked with local treats, including Upward Brewing Company’s beers from Livingston Manor and Pollinator Gin from Catskills Provisions Distillery in nearby Callicoon.
While it might be tempting to stay nestled in the privacy of these cottages, the hotel’s communal spaces—complete with a pool, hot tub, a spa with private treatment rooms, a sauna, and a yoga studio—are sure to lure you out. Recent landscaping has transformed the hotel’s gardens into certified butterfly sanctuaries, where endangered monarchs can be spotted and hummingbirds flit between lavender bushes. Guests staying in the bungalows also enjoy exclusive access to communal firepit areas nestled between each cottage.

Troutbeck, which opened its 17-room Manor House in 2017, is a historic Hudson Valley estate that has been welcoming guests as an inn and tavern since 1765. The estate expanded in 2022 with Benton House, a new addition just across the Webatuck River from the Manor House, accessible via a charming stone bridge. Benton House continues the Shaker-meets-midcentury aesthetic, designed by Champalimaud Design, the same firm responsible for the interior spaces of the Manor House.
Benton House at Troutbeck features a unique blend of Shaker and midcentury style, with each of its rooms offering private outdoor spaces. The design is crafted by Champalimaud Design, the New York firm behind Troutbeck’s other interior renovations.
In the newly designed rooms at Benton House, guests will find grass cloth wallpaper paired with subtle plaid and striped accents. The king-size four-poster beds, crafted by Connecticut-based furniture maker Ian Ingersoll, are available in either a striking saffron yellow or a deep navy blue. While Benton House shares similar decor to the rest of the estate, its standout feature is the seamless access to nature: each room includes either a private screened-in porch or a balcony.

Wildflower Farms, Auberge Resorts Collection
In late September 2022, the prestigious Auberge Resorts Collection opened Wildflower Farms, a 65-cottage retreat set across 140 acres, located about 90 minutes north of Manhattan. Designed to merge seamlessly with the natural surroundings, each cottage features expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that bring the outdoors in, and includes a private patio for additional relaxation.
Thistle, an Auberge Spa, offers an indoor saltwater pool, two outdoor hot tubs, a dry sauna, and an herbal steam room. The property also features a working farm and orchard, a 3,000-square-foot fitness center, a yoga studio, miles of hiking trails and climbing routes, and a restaurant with an open kitchen that serves dishes made with fresh produce grown on-site. Guests can spend their time foraging for ramps, helping care for the chickens, or taking a cooking class. —Devorah Lev Tov

The Chatwal Lodge
Located within the private, environmentally protected Chapin Estate in the Catskills, The Chatwal Lodge opened in May 2022. Developed by the team behind the renowned Chatwal in Manhattan, the lodge offers 11 luxury accommodations that evoke the rustic grandeur of the Adirondack Great Camps. The design, by Steve Dubrovsky, is a perfect reflection of this iconic style.
Guests can explore the property's 100 acres of wooded wilderness, which borders the Toronto Reservoir Lake, with trails to hike throughout the year. In the warmer months, visitors can swim in the lake or enjoy canoeing, while in winter, the hotel arranges ice skating and cross-country skiing nearby. The farm-to-table restaurant serves hearty American dishes, and guests can indulge in a variety of Ayurvedic spa treatments, available in the comfort of their rooms, through the nearby Yo1 Wellness Center. —Devorah Lev Tov
