Harry Connick Jr. Discusses Filming in Cyprus, Family Travels, and a Surprising Flight Habit

When Harry Connick Jr. agreed to star in the new Netflix film Find Me Falling, the allure of filming in Cyprus was a major draw.

"As I began reading the script, I thought, 'That’s a place I don’t know much about; it’s intriguing,'" he shared with Dinogo before the film’s July release. Being a globally recognized musician, actor, and talk show host, he has traveled extensively throughout his career, yet the chance to explore an unfamiliar location excited him. "It's hard to articulate, but at this stage in my life, I seek out places that offer culture shock," he noted. "Returning to Japan for the tenth time feels different than the first. Landing in Cyprus, a country I knew little about before this film, was truly eye-opening, revealing the depth of its ancient culture, its significance as a global crossroads, and the dynamics with the Turkish people on the island’s northern side. It’s simply fascinating." He concluded, "I wholeheartedly recommend it; it's stunning, you can explore much of the island in a short time, and the food and people are fantastic."

The seasoned traveler revealed that the nature of his trips varies depending on whether his wife, Jill Goodacre, or daughters Georgia Tatum, 28, Kate, 26, and Charlotte, 22, accompany him. "When I travel alone, I tend to explore," Connick told T+L. "With Jill, I make it a point to find unique restaurants and plan fun activities. When I'm with our daughters, we discuss their interests, and if we're all together, we just decide as a group. We're open to anything!"

"Anything" includes bungee jumping with Kate a few years ago, though he noted they haven’t engaged in as many thrilling activities lately. Despite his daughters being adults now, the family dynamic remains unchanged. "I cherish our time together," he said, adding that Georgia and Kate visited him during filming in Cyprus. "They're fantastic travelers and my favorite companions."
