Here Are the Top U.S. Airports for 2024, as Selected by T+L Readers
Nowadays, traveling through airports can be quite challenging. It’s no surprise that for the 2024 World's Best Awards, Dinogo readers favored domestic airports that made their journeys easier—and even enjoyable.
Understanding the Voting Process
Each year for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L invites readers to share their experiences with travel around the world—rating the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise lines, spas, airlines, and more. In 2024, over 186,000 T+L readers participated, casting more than 700,000 votes across 8,700+ properties.
Airports were evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Accessibility
- Check-in/Security
- Dining Options
- Shopping Facilities
- Architectural Design
For each feature, participants could select a rating from excellent to poor. The overall scores represent the average of these ratings.
Highlights from Reader Feedback
Many readers favored regional airports for their convenience and efficiency—long lines are rare, and the service tends to be friendly. While these airports may lack luxury lounges or upscale shops, our readers didn’t seem to mind.
One standout feature about Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (No. 2) was the overwhelming praise for its spaciousness, cleanliness, ample parking, and an exceptional number of compliments regarding its restrooms.
'The restrooms are extraordinary! While it may seem minor, for frequent travelers, spacious stalls with privacy doors and sinks that combine faucets and dryers are a true blessing. Plus, the live plants and fresh flowers at each sink made me feel cared for,' shared one voter. 'This is probably the best experience I've had in my 30 years as a travel consultant.'
However, some major airports did impress our readers, like Tampa International Airport (No. 8), praised for its smart layout. 'This has to be one of the best-designed and cleanest airports I’ve ever used,' commented one voter. 'It feels like the engineers designed it with the flow of traffic in mind, creating an experience that supports travelers seamlessly from check-in to the gates.'
