Hilton employees strike at two significant hotels in Boston

Current hotel strikes across the nation are now affecting operations at two Hilton-affiliated hotels in Boston. This round of strikes is set to be indefinite.
Approximately 600 hotel workers in Boston are now on strike at the Hilton Boston Park Plaza and the Hilton Boston Logan Airport. The Park Plaza is one of the city's largest and most historic hotels, located near key attractions such as Boston Common and the bustling retail area of Newbury Street. The Hilton Boston Logan Airport primarily serves connecting passengers and flight crews due to its convenient location near all terminals at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).
Previous hotel strikes in Boston typically lasted only two or three days and occurred at various hotels throughout the city, involving members of the Unite Here hospitality labor group. However, this recent wave of strikes is intended to continue until a new labor agreement is reached. Those participating in the strike include housekeepers, front desk staff, cooks, dishwashers, servers, bartenders, bellhops, and door attendants.
"I am advocating for a raise because I currently juggle two jobs. One job isn't enough to make ends meet. I work up to 70 hours a week," stated Theresa Fiorino, a room service cashier at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport for 29 years, in a statement provided by Unite Here. "Going on strike will financially impact me, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice alongside my co-workers. We are a team, and we're ready to show the hotel companies that we are serious about our demands."

Strikes are currently taking place in other U.S. cities such as Honolulu, San Diego, and San Francisco. Across the nation, local Unite Here chapters representing hotel workers have been advocating for higher wages, improved working conditions, and enhanced employee protections. Many hotel labor contracts expired on August 31.
Representatives from major brands like Hilton and Hyatt have previously informed TPG that they have contingency plans to reduce disruptions during a strike. However, Unite Here cautions guests that services are likely to be suspended as hotels operate with minimal staff.
Picket lines will be established outside the affected hotels for up to 24 hours each day, and hotels may reduce certain services while running with limited personnel. If you're planning a stay at either the Hilton Boston Park Plaza or the Hilton Boston Logan Airport, it's advisable to contact the hotel in advance if you need specific services during your visit.
