In 2020, a new Godzilla-themed experience will open at a Japanese theme park, bringing the iconic monster to life like never before.

If the Godzilla films don't give you enough of a scare, head to Japan next year for an experience where you might just be swallowed by the fearsome creature itself.
The Nijigen no Mori park on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture will unveil a Godzilla-themed attraction in 2020, featuring a colossal monster measuring 20 meters (65 feet) tall, 25 meters (82 feet) wide, and 55 meters (180 feet) long – matching the size of the one from the films.
This will make Nijigen no Mori the first location to house a permanent, life-sized replica of the legendary movie monster.

The 'Godzilla Interception Operation' will offer a variety of thrilling experiences, including a zipline that drops you straight into the monster's jaws, along with a shooting game where you’ll likely find yourself taking aim at Godzilla himself.
Visitors will be given 'missions' to help capture or defeat Godzilla, and of course, there will be a themed gift shop to commemorate the adventure.
The choice of location for this experience is no accident.
'The legend of Godzilla dates back to the Meiji era when a typhoon struck Awaji Island,' reads the theme park's blog. 'Godzilla, emerging with the towering waves, wreaked havoc across the island, causing massive destruction.'
The original Godzilla film made its US debut in 1954, sparking numerous remakes that have continued to captivate audiences with the spectacle of a massive lizard destroying human civilization.
In addition to housing the world's most fearsome giant lizard, Nijigen no Mori also features attractions inspired by popular Japanese anime and characters, like Crayon Shinchan.
You can stay up to date on the Godzilla Interception Operation through regular updates on the themed area's Japanese-language Twitter account.
Awaji Island is situated in the Bay of Osaka, conveniently close to both Kobe and Naruto.
Godzilla enthusiasts visiting Japan can also check out Hotel Gracery in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district, where a 12-meter (39-foot) replica of Godzilla's head shoots 'fire' at passersby throughout the day.
Hotel guests can book a stay in one of the themed rooms, offering the perfect vantage point (and photo opportunities) of the iconic Godzilla head on the eighth floor.
Next year will also see the release of the highly anticipated Godzilla film, 'Godzilla vs. Kong,' starring Millie Bobby Brown and Kyle Chandler, and presented in English.
