Now is the Perfect Moment to Purchase Your Epic Season Ski Pass—Before Prices Go Up
Though summer officially lasts until September 23, if you’re eager to hit the slopes this winter, it’s wise to secure your lift tickets soon. The Epic Pass offers access to over 80 premier ski resorts worldwide, making it a budget-friendly option for mountain enthusiasts. However, the price will rise after September 4.
From now until September 3, skiers and snowboarders aged 13 and older can still grab an Epic Pass for just $929 (or $473 for children under 12). Prices will increase after that date, but Vail Resorts, the provider of the Epic Pass, has not disclosed the new rates.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Epic Pass as we approach the 2023–2024 season.
Discover why purchasing a ski pass now is smarter than buying single lift tickets later in the season.
Epic only offers a limited number of passes. Once they sell out, skiers and snowboarders will have to settle for a single-day lift pass purchased at the ticket window.
If you plan to hit the slopes for more than three days this winter, a season pass is more cost-effective than buying single-day lift tickets. Once the season kicks off around mid-November at most resorts, a one-day lift ticket averages a staggering $299.
What ski areas are covered by the Epic Pass?
The Epic Pass grants unlimited access to 36 resorts throughout the United States, including Vail in Colorado, Park City in Utah, Heavenly in California and Nevada, Stowe in Vermont, and Hunter Mountain in New York. Additionally, it offers unlimited access to five international locations: Whistler Blackcomb in Canada, Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis in Switzerland, and Australia’s Perisher, Falls Creek, and Hotham. Enjoy no black-out days during holidays, allowing you to ski as often as you like throughout the season.

However, this only covers half of the resorts included with the pass. The remaining ski destinations across North America, Europe, and Japan have limited access, meaning there's a specific number of days skiers and snowboarders can use their pass at those locations. In the USA, the only resort with limitations is Telluride in Colorado, offering pass holders seven days on the slopes. After that, they can purchase single-day lift tickets at a 50% discount. The same seven-day limit applies to six resorts in the Canadian Rockies, where the total is spread across those resorts. In Japan, pass holders can ski for five consecutive days, shared among the ten resorts in Hakuba Valley and five consecutive days at Rusutsu Resort.
Additionally, the Epic Pass provides limited access (ranging from three to seven consecutive days) to 26 partner resorts located in France, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria.
What additional benefits come with an Epic Pass?
Epic Pass holders gain exclusive early access to Vail Resorts’ Winter Getaway Sale on lodging near the resorts, enjoying an extra 20% off already discounted rates.
Here are some additional perks for pass holders:
- Purchase six extra single-day lift tickets for friends and family at discounts of up to 45%
- Enjoy 20% off gear rentals at all participating resorts
- Receive 20% off group ski and snowboarding lessons

What other options does the Epic Pass offer?
For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, the Epic Local Pass is available for $689 (or $359 for kids under 13). This pass provides unlimited access to 29 resorts, including Crested Butte in Colorado and Roundtop Mountain in Pennsylvania, with holiday restrictions on eight resorts (including Vail in Colorado, Park City in Utah, and Stowe in Vermont) during specific dates like November 24–25, December 26–31, January 13, and February 17–18.
Discounted day passes can also be purchased until September 4. Skiers can buy between one and seven flexible day lift tickets (valid at any of the Epic Pass mountains) for up to 65% off. Pricing ranges from $49 for a single non-peak day at select resorts to $725 for seven days, including peak periods, at any resort.
