Proof of vaccination or recent testing no longer needed for indoor venues in Maui - Dinogo
While Hawaii has been one of the strictest locations in the United States regarding COVID-19 measures, the popular tourist destination of Maui removed its last requirement for proof of vaccination or testing for indoor access as of last week.
As of February 21, proof of vaccination or testing will no longer be necessary for indoor services at restaurants, bars, and gyms, according to Maui Mayor Michael Victorino.
"Due to the swift decrease in new COVID-19 cases and related hospitalizations, we can safely do away with the proof-of-vaccination requirement for bars, restaurants, and gyms," Victorino stated on February 18. "We managed to prevent overloading our healthcare system, and I extend my gratitude to the community and particularly to the business owners who have faced challenges throughout this pandemic."
It is essential to remember that the indoor mask mandate will stay in effect until Hawaii Governor David Ige decides to lift it.
Earlier this month, Ige abandoned plans to require a booster shot for travelers to be recognized as fully vaccinated and thus exempt from quarantine.
