Singapore Eliminates COVID Testing for Vaccinated Travelers

Singapore is aligning with a rising trend among countries worldwide by relaxing or eliminating pandemic-related restrictions. As of April 26, travelers who are fully vaccinated (along with children under 13) will no longer need to present a negative COVID test result to enter the country.

“Today is a joyous occasion marking a significant milestone,” stated Singapore’s Health Minister Ong Ye Kung during a briefing. “While we recognize the threat is not completely over, we can all feel a sense of relief now.”

This isn't the only measure being eased. Social distancing will no longer be mandated; there will be no limit on the number of people allowed to gather (so everything from backyard gatherings to concerts can resume), and all employees can return to their workplaces. Most venues will not require check-ins using the TraceTogether app (originally used for contact tracing and vaccination verification), except for events with over 500 attendees and specific nightlife locations. However, it remains crucial for individuals to wear masks indoors in public areas.

The entry requirements remain the same for those who are not fully vaccinated. They will still need to take a pre-departure test within two days before arriving in Singapore. Additionally, they must undergo a seven-day quarantine and take a PCR test at the end of this isolation. Tourists arriving in Singapore will also have the option to receive Moderna’s vaccine, though they will be responsible for the cost.

Several other Asian nations have eased their entry restrictions in recent months, with Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam now welcoming fully vaccinated travelers.
