Tampa Cruise Port Guide: Depart from Port Tampa Bay

Located on Florida's west coast, Tampa's cruise port is positioned on the bay rather than directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Port Tampa Bay accommodates five cruise lines and offers a range of sailings to destinations such as the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Mexico, and Central America.
Tampa is an ideal starting or ending point for your cruise. The city features convenient access to international airports, top-tier hotels from well-known brands as well as boutique accommodations, and dining options to satisfy every taste. Consider extending your trip to discover what the city and its nearby areas have to offer, including beautiful Gulf Coast beaches, Central Florida's famous theme parks, and amazing museums for both adults and children.
Overview of Port Tampa Bay Cruise Port

Tampa's port features three cruise terminals: Terminal 2, Terminal 3, and Terminal 6.
Address Information for Port Tampa Bay Cruise Terminals
- Terminal 2: 651 Channelside Dr.
- Terminal 3: 815 Channelside Dr.
- Terminal 6: 1331 McKay St.
To find a map of the three cruise terminals, visit the Port Tampa Bay website. By clicking on any terminal, you’ll access a Departure Guide that includes a detailed map.
The port provides restrooms, vending machines, and luggage storage services through a third party. Additionally, several restaurants and bars are within a short walking distance from the terminals.
All cruise terminals are fully ADA-compliant, equipped with elevators and ramps. If available, cruise staff can assist passengers in wheelchairs with boarding and disembarking from the ship.
Cruise Lines Operating from Tampa's Port
Five cruise lines operate from Port Tampa Bay, utilizing the three terminals:
- Carnival Cruise Line
- Royal Caribbean
- Celebrity Cruises
- Norwegian Cruise Line
- Margaritaville at Sea
- Oceania Cruises (starting in 2026)
Unlike some other Florida ports, Tampa's port does not have designated terminals for specific cruise lines. You can use the calendar feature on Port Tampa Bay's website to find out which terminal your ship will use on the day of departure. Simply click on your ship's name in the calendar for your embarkation day, and the assigned terminal will appear at the top of the pop-up box. Additionally, you can purchase on-site parking through this same box.
Airports in Proximity to the Tampa Cruise Port

When flying in for your cruise, you have multiple nearby airport options to choose from.
The closest airport is Tampa International Airport (TPA), located about 7 miles away, which is roughly a 15-minute drive to Port Tampa Bay. Major airlines servicing this airport include Air Canada, Alaska, American, British Airways, JetBlue, Southwest, United, and Virgin Atlantic.
For those seeking lounge access, TPA features a Delta Sky Club situated in Concourse E.
Orlando International Airport (MCO) is further away but may offer more economical and convenient flight options for your travel needs. This popular destination in Central Florida is roughly 85 miles from Tampa's cruise port. While the drive can take just an hour and fifteen minutes without traffic, be prepared for significant congestion on the highways between these two major cities. With heavy traffic, the journey from MCO to Port Tampa Bay could extend to two hours.
MCO is served by over 40 airlines, including Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Alaska, American Airlines, British Airways, Delta, JetBlue, Lufthansa, Southwest, United, and Virgin Atlantic.
At MCO, you can visit The Club lounge if you're flying from terminals A or B. Prebooking is available for a fee, though it is often not necessary. Alternatively, check out the Plaza Premium Lounge located in Terminal C. Utilize your credit card benefits for lounge access prior to your flight.
If you plan to spend time in other parts of Florida before or after your cruise, consider flying into Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), a smaller international airport located 60 miles, or about an hour's drive, south of the port. Airlines operating from this airport include Air Canada, Allegiant, American Airlines, Avelo, Breeze, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Sun Country, and United.
No matter which airport you select, you can reduce your travel expenses by exploring credit card benefits. If you are traveling as a couple, the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card offers a $99 Companion Fare (plus taxes and fees starting at $23) available each account anniversary after you spend $6,000 or more in the previous year.
By strategically managing your personal and business credit card expenditures with a Southwest card, you could accumulate enough rewards for nearly two years of buy-one-get-one flights, excluding taxes and fees.
Getting to Port Tampa Bay

You can reach the cruise port using various independent services, public transportation, or hotel shuttle services.
Ride-sharing services, cruise transfers, and private shuttles are your best options for traveling from TPA to the cruise port. While public transportation is available, involving a transfer from SkyConnect at the airport to a public bus, this journey can exceed an hour due to multiple stops. In contrast, a direct vehicle from the airport to the port will only take about 10 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.
Cruise line transfers
Most cruise lines operating from Port Tampa Bay, with the exception of Margaritaville at Sea, provide transfer services from TPA airport to the cruise port for an extra charge starting at $24.99 per person each way. However, no cruise lines offer transfers from MCO to the Tampa cruise port.
Hotel shuttles
When choosing accommodation before or after your cruise, the availability of a shuttle service between the hotel and the cruise terminal could be a key factor. Be sure to ask whether the hotel offers a shuttle and if it comes at no extra cost before making your reservation.
Hilton's Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Tampa provides a complimentary shuttle service within a three-mile radius, which includes the cruise port located just under two miles away. Although Tampa Marriott Water Street does not have a shuttle, the free TECO Streetcar has a stop right outside the hotel and at the cruise terminal.
Independent airport shuttles, van and car services
For a private transfer, it's advisable to prearrange and book a van, limousine, or sedan based on your group size and comfort preferences.
Mears is a well-known and trusted service in Central Florida, catering to both Orlando and Tampa. Their extensive fleet features hundreds of luxury sedans, vans, and limousines. You can utilize Mears' online quote system to estimate your transfer expenses. A standard sedan, which accommodates up to three passengers and four bags, costs $150, while a van that fits eight passengers and 10 bags is slightly over $300. Child car seats are provided at no extra charge; simply include your request in the "Special Instructions" section during the online booking process.
Alternative services like Blue One Transportation provide a private vehicle for up to four passengers for $90. A shared shuttle option is also available for $15 per person, and there is no extra fee for children's car seats.
Taxis and ride-shares
If you're traveling directly from Tampa airport to the port, Yellow Cab taxis will transport you from the baggage claim areas for a flat rate of $35. Taxis are available at the terminal for arriving guests.
In the city, metered rates start at $0 for the first 1/5 of a mile or portion thereof, with additional miles costing $2.50. The minimum fare from the airport is $20.
Ride-shares pick up and drop off at designated areas at each terminal; the estimated fare for an Uber or Lyft ride from Tampa International Airport to Port Tampa Bay starts at $20, while it’s approximately $120 from Orlando International Airport to the port.
Since ride-shares provide an estimated fare before booking and taxi fares can vary based on the driver's route, we recommend ride-shares over taxis.
Public transportation options from downtown Tampa or the hotel district
The TECO Streetcar is a complimentary service run by the City of Tampa, connecting downtown Tampa and the Ybor City area. It stops just a short walk from all three cruise terminals at Station 7, located at the intersection of Cumberland Avenue and Channelside Drive. Be aware of whether you're heading northbound or southbound, depending on your travel direction to or from the port.
TECO Streetcar operating hours can vary, so it’s advisable to check the schedule for the day, particularly on weekends when services start later.
Parking at Tampa cruise port

Parking is available on-site at the port.
Official parking at the port is conveniently located within walking distance of the cruise terminals at the Channelside Parking Garage. You can purchase parking passes in advance through the Port Tampa Bay website. Simply find your cruise to buy your parking pass, which is fully refundable up until your cruise departure.
Prepaid parking rates are set at $15.75 per day, with the total cost depending on the duration of your cruise. After you prepay, be sure to print your parking voucher, which you will need to show to the cashier upon arrival. Alternatively, you can arrive at the port without a reservation; the rates remain the same whether you prepaid or not.
Parking is available only while the ship is docked, and both major credit cards and cash are accepted. If you prefer a curbside drop-off at the cruise terminal entrance, you can choose valet parking for the same daily rate plus an extra $20 fee. There is also limited parking available for oversized vehicles in the on-site garage—vehicles over 8 feet 2 inches tall or that require more than one parking space are charged $30 per day.
Private parking lots
Certain hotels, such as Hilton's Hotel Tampa Riverwalk, offer park-and-stay packages for cruisers. If your hotel does not provide this option, or if you're heading directly to the cruise port, consider using a private lot to save on parking costs.
While the Channelside Parking Garage at Port Tampa Bay is the nearest option to the terminals, there are other nearby alternatives that are just a short distance from the ships. The 241 Parking garage is well-lit, gated, and located less than one mile north of the Channelside facility. Priced at $8.99 per day, it offers a more budget-friendly option than port parking. However, the lot can fill up quickly, so it's advisable to reserve your spot in advance, though you can still drive up and park if spaces are available.
241 Parking suggests making reservations 30 days ahead during the busy cruise season from November to April, and at least 15 days in advance during the off-peak season from May to October. The facility offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from the port and accepts all major credit cards as well as cash.
