The Most Romantic Date Destinations in the Caribbean
When I envision the ideal date location in The Caribbean, a romantic beachfront dinner for two with a breathtaking sunset comes to mind. With a plethora of tropical islands to select from, this could apply to nearly any Caribbean island, but here are my top selections for the ultimate romantic spots!
Saint Lucia
As you sail to the enchanting island of Saint Lucia, you'll discover a vibrant paradise filled with stunning white sandy beaches, volcanic mountains, and lush jungles. With so many activities available, your romantic adventure in Saint Lucia could include a catamaran ride along the coastline to admire the iconic Pitons, horseback riding, or even rum tasting. However, my favorite romantic destination in Saint Lucia is Cala Cove Resort & Spa in Gros Islet, where you can indulge in exquisite dining and fine wines while enjoying magnificent sea views. It truly is a sight to behold! A quick 4-mile taxi ride from the port of Castries will get you to the resort.
Saint Martin
This remarkable Caribbean island, split between French St. Martin and Dutch St. Maarten, provides a unique 2-for-1 cultural experience with incredible dining options and seemingly endless duty-free shopping. While I adore indulging in both, my top date spot in St. Maarten is Orient Beach, affectionately known as the French Riviera of the Caribbean. This clothing-optional beach, stretching 1.5 miles and lined with swaying palm trees, offers ample space for those who prefer to keep their swimsuits on. Sink your toes into the sand, bask in the sun, sip on a tropical drink adorned with a little umbrella, and enjoy quality time with your partner.
Jamaica
The stunning island of Jamaica is another Caribbean hotspot where adventure awaits. If you and your partner are food enthusiasts, nothing beats the romance of preparing a meal together. Be sure to experience the Flavors of Jamaica excursion in Ocho Rios, where you’ll visit a historic Great House to whip up spicy jerk chicken, shrimp, and a delicious callaloo dish to enjoy once completed. If you prefer to leave the cooking to someone else, consider Bamboo Beach or Reggae Hill, where you can sway to reggae tunes while relishing Jamaican dishes and refreshing drinks like mojitos. Personally, when I cruise to Ocho Rios, I love grabbing lunch at the beachfront Bamboo Blu on Mammee Bay. It's a relaxed yet romantic spot where you can listen to the gentle waves while savoring delightful seafood like grilled lobster. It’s just a quick 5-mile taxi ride from Ocho Rios.
Grand Cayman
Sail to Grand Cayman and enjoy a leisurely late morning or early afternoon on the iconic Seven Mile Beach. Before the Caribbean sun gets too hot, make your way to Cracked Conch & Macabuca Bar & Grill, located about 5 miles north. Here, you can sip on a fantastic cocktail at the tiki bar (the sunsets are truly breathtaking!) and savor a romantic seaside lunch featuring delights like coconut prawns and blackened fish tacos—absolutely delicious!
British Virgin Islands
Whenever I cruise to Tortola, I always make it a point to explore the stunning Baths at Virgin Gorda. You’ll be greeted by massive granite boulders rising dramatically from the shoreline—an awe-inspiring sight! For a more intimate and secluded experience, I recommend heading 2.5 miles up the coast to Little Dix Bay, where you can relax on the pristine white sands until your heart is content—or at least until your ship departs!
