Why You Should Plan Your Next Getaway at This Beach Resort in Cabo, Mexico

The Dinogo Perspective
For many, the name "Cabo" evokes a variety of images. It can certainly be a hotspot for nightlife—there's even a cocktail bar right by the airport for those awaiting taxis. However, it's equally renowned for its luxurious resorts that offer breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez, providing U.S. visitors with a customizable sun-soaked retreat.
At the forefront of such upscale hotels is Chileno Bay, an Auberge resort that epitomizes the essence of Baja's charm. This destination showcases understated elegance, with winding paths leading through meticulously landscaped gardens, past saguaro palms and vibrant oleanders, to a series of infinity pools that meet the skyline. Here, the pristine sand on the semi-private beach is smoothed out every morning, cabanas offer fruit platters featuring eight varieties, and the only complaint you might have is that the music in the spa’s Himalayan salt room could be a tad too loud.
Chileno Bay’s harmonious combination of exceptional service, stylish design, and comfortable accommodations reached new heights in 2023 with the introduction of Mexico's first location of the renowned wellness brand the Well. The Well at Chileno Bay features a bathhouse, nap garden, reflexology pool, ice bar, cold plunge, and various treatment rooms spread across 22 stunning acres. Signature treatments include the Integration, which can encompass lymphatic drainage, cupping, or the use of hot obsidian stones, tailored to meet your individual needs and preferences.
Who is this for?
Ideal for couples or families seeking a relaxed beach vacation in Cabo with safe swimming waters.
The Location
Chileno Bay spans 22 acres of coveted coastal land at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, perfectly situated between the resort towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. This area is renowned for its five-star offerings, with the Montage Los Cabos as its closest neighbor. Here, the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Sea of Cortez lap against rugged cliffs, and a beach that's perfect for swimming and snorkeling presents a dazzling array of fish that amazed my eight-year-old. San Jose del Cabo airport is just a 35-minute SUV ride away.
This destination epitomizes subtle luxury, with winding paths meandering through beautifully maintained gardens, lined with saguaro palms and bright oleanders, leading to a series of infinity pools that stretch toward the horizon.

The Accommodations
Chileno Bay offers a total of 99 guest rooms, ranging up to 885 square feet, along with suites that vary from 1,300 to 2,100 square feet featuring seamless indoor-outdoor living spaces. Additionally, there are 60 expansive villa suites, spanning from 3,300 to 11,000 square feet, many of which include private pools or hot tubs.
Our two-bedroom garden view villa, Hacienda, boasted a large living area, a state-of-the-art kitchen that many dream of having at home, an ample outdoor dining and cooking space, and a hot tub with views of palm trees and vibrant pink bougainvillea. The plush cushioned hardwood furnishings and desert-themed artworks in shades of turquoise beautifully blend the essence of an upscale coastal retreat with the natural beauty of Baja’s desert landscape.

Culinary Offerings
Chef Eliana Godinez, originally from Mexico City, draws inspiration from her Mediterranean travels for the casual poolside menu at Yaya (named after the affectionate term for beloved grandmothers). Expect to find mezze plates featuring hummus and labneh, fresh fattoush and tabbouleh salads, as well as chicken shawarma sandwiches. At the coastal Comal, seafood is paired with traditional Mexican sauces and spices, offering dishes like grilled octopus with mole or blackened snapper with chile adobo. The relaxed beachside café TnT serves up tacos and tequilas. In 2023, Chileno Bay introduced Washoka Nights, a unique Japanese-inspired multi-course dinner and sake tasting on Wednesdays, while also collaborating with the nonprofit coffee company Buna to enhance the livelihoods of Mexican farmers.
Traveling with three kids, we enjoyed ordering dinner to our room one evening and having a chef prepare a sumptuous breakfast in our villa the following morning.

Staff and Service
Outstanding, to say the least. Throughout our stay, my family and I were assisted by a private concierge named Fernanda, who was reachable via text for nearly the entire duration. She was incredibly attentive to our young boys during a golf cart tour of the property and facilitated everything from dining selections to kids club bookings.
Accessibility Features
Chileno Bay has been thoughtfully designed with accessibility in mind. The resort features include on-site wheelchairs, roll-in showers, and spacious, well-lit paths that connect the rooms, restaurants, and pools. Guests can reach out at 888 764-0242 or email [email protected] for further details.
Family Enjoyment
Chileno Bay is certainly a luxurious destination, ideal for a romantic getaway or honeymoon. However, children are warmly welcomed, and there's an abundance of activities to keep them engaged (and quietly entertained) to maintain the serene atmosphere. Kids can splash in the two family-friendly pools, try paddleboarding, snorkel or swim at the beach, test their skills at the newly introduced pickleball courts, or enjoy Pescadito’s Kids Club (or Escondite Teens Club) while parents participate in a cooking class or an agave tasting session.
We experienced a ‘cinema under the stars’ event on the beach, but due to strong winds, we relocated to the private movie theater for a family screening complete with fresh popcorn and treats, where the kids cozied up under blankets to watch The Emoji Movie. (Trust us, let them enjoy this on their own.) Starting from $1,350
