Since the debut of the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card in November 2021, Capital One has significantly positioned itself as a strong player in the travel credit card market. With earning and redemption options that often exceed those of competitors like AmEx, Chase, and Citi, the Venture X, along with the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, has swiftly become a gateway to premium travel perks.
Current Venture X and Venture cardholders have exclusive access to Capital One’s branded airport lounges in cities such as Washington, D.C. and Denver, with another lounge planned for New York’s JFK. They also enjoy various benefits when booking at properties within the Capital One Lifestyle Collection, a carefully curated selection of stylish boutique hotels, which includes room upgrades, early check-in, and late checkout when available. Venture X cardholders receive even more luxurious benefits through the Capital One Premier Collection, an elite array of luxury hotels and resorts globally, offering 10x miles earned per dollar spent on bookings, complimentary breakfast for two, and a $100 experience credit (or local equivalent) for on-property food, beverage, spa, or other activities.
In response to rapid growth in the travel sector and customer input, Capital One has added thousands of vacation rentals to its Premier and Lifestyle collections. In a groundbreaking move, cardholders can now earn experience credits and substantial bonus miles for rentals, as well as redeem miles for stays at properties throughout North America (including Hawai‘i and Costa Rica).

The newly added rental homes in Capital One’s collections
In early summer 2024, Capital One discreetly enhanced its Premier and Lifestyle collections by introducing a range of villas, homes, and estates. As summer winds down, this carefully selected inventory has expanded to feature over 2,000 residential-style properties in more than 50 locations across North America. This impressive portfolio was made possible through partnerships with five leading rental brands: AvantStay, Boutiq, Key.Co, Portoro, and HVN.
Every professionally managed property has been carefully vetted to meet specific standards for service and design, ensuring it caters to destinations favored by Capital One customers. In short, Capital One has done the legwork for us.
While hotels and resorts within the Premier and Lifestyle collections are perfect for couples and small families, these rentals cater to the rising trend of multi-generational and group vacations for both short and extended stays. Most rentals can host between 8 and 12 guests, with some accommodating up to 48 (like the impressive 22-bedroom Hudson Valley estate, Shakespeare on the Hudson!). Other notable properties include Ute Lodge by AvantStay, a rustic yet stylish multi-bedroom home in Telluride, Colorado; the midcentury-modern Painted Sand in Coachella Valley, California, by AvantStay; and Hilton Ivory by AvantStay, a sleek six-bedroom estate in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Some locations offer only a limited number of rental options, but popular U.S. vacation destinations like Asheville, Aspen, Orlando, and the Great Smoky Mountains boast over 100 rentals each available through Capital One Travel. The most luxurious accommodations typically fall under the Premier Collection, while more budget-friendly options are found in the Lifestyle Collection.
The advantages of booking through Capital One Travel
When reserving vacation rentals via Capital One Travel, Venture X cardholders will enjoy the following perks at properties in the Premier portfolio:
- Earn 5x miles for every dollar spent on bookings
- $100 experience credit for items such as prearrival groceries, in-home chef services, mid-stay cleanings, and more
- Free Wi-Fi
- Early check-in and late checkout when available
In addition, both Venture X and Venture cardholders will receive these benefits at properties within the Lifestyle portfolio:
- Earn 5x miles for every dollar spent on bookings
- $50 experience credit for prearrival groceries, in-home chef meals, mid-stay cleanings, and more
- Free Wi-Fi
- Early check-in and late checkout when available
While earning 5x miles on stays is attractive, travelers can also redeem Capital One miles on rentals. Cardholders can use Capital One miles at a one-to-one ratio for rental bookings, meaning 1,000 miles equals $10. It's possible to pay part of the booking with miles and the rest with a credit card.
Additionally, Capital One Travel credits can be applied to bookings. This includes the Venture X’s $300 annual travel credit (which significantly offsets the card’s $395 annual fee and is a key reason the card is consistently featured on Dinogo’s list of Best Travel Credit Cards), along with the current one-time $250 Capital One Travel welcome credit included in the Venture card’s introductory offer.
Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that Capital One’s vacation rentals come with access to a concierge and destination expert services. During a summer visit, my concierge perfectly stocked my fridge according to my detailed requests and arranged a private chef-led dinner at the villa, for which I used my $100 experience credit.
How to Make a Reservation
Booking a vacation rental through Capital One Travel is as straightforward as reserving any hotel or resort. Just log in, select “Premium Stays,” and then click on “Vacation Rentals” instead of “Hotels & Resorts.” In the “Where are you going?” box, enter your desired destination, then input your travel dates and the number of guests, including pets.
To access vacation rentals through Capital One Travel, you'll need a mid- or top-tier card from the brand’s Venture portfolio. While we appreciate all of Capital One's offerings, we particularly recommend the benefit-rich Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. Its $395 annual fee is quickly offset by a $300 travel credit for any purchase on Capital One Travel. This card also includes a valuable Priority Pass membership for airport lounge access, especially useful where Capital One hasn’t established its own branded lounges. An annual bonus of 10,000 miles after your first account anniversary helps cover the remaining annual fee. Plus, you can add up to four additional cardholders at no extra cost, each receiving their own Priority Pass lounge membership and access to both Capital One airport lounges and the Lifestyle and Premier collections. Right now, the welcome offer for the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening.
For those hesitant about the high annual fee, the low-fee Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card is an appealing option. While it doesn't provide access to the Premier Collection, the Lifestyle Collection is still at your fingertips. Until the end of 2024, you’ll also receive two entries to Capital One lounges. Currently, this card features an elevated introductory offer: $250 to spend on Capital One Travel in your first year and a 75,000-mile bonus after spending $4,000 within the first three months. That translates to a $1,000 value for a card with just a $95 annual fee—significant savings for your future dream vacation rental.
