Your Ideal Three-Day Getaway in Park City
Renowned as Utah's premier ski destination, Park City offers a charming, small-town vibe and serves as an excellent launchpad for thrilling adventures. Regardless of whether you visit in the summer or winter, this historic mining town features activities for everyone, from exceptional dining to exhilarating bobsledding. You don't need to be a skiing enthusiast to enjoy a trip to Park City, although snow lovers will find ample fresh powder. If you're eager for a weekend filled with bobsledding, après-ski hotspots, and mountain biking, we’ve got the perfect itinerary for you.
Day One
When it comes to mountain getaways, Park City stands out for its accessibility. Arrive at Salt Lake International Airport and take a quick 45-minute shuttle ride or drive to the slopes. Check in at the charming Washington School House Hotel in downtown Park City, then step outside to enjoy the crisp mountain air. A leisurely walk down Main Street offers a glimpse into the town’s history and architecture, along with plenty of shops and art galleries to explore.
Dine at Riverhorse on Main for delicious salads, expertly grilled steaks, and top-notch service. If you’re looking for nightlife, the century-old No Name Saloon feels like a classic dive bar, complete with antler chandeliers, a cozy fireplace, and prime people-watching opportunities.
Day Two
Rise early to hit the slopes. Park City is now home to America’s largest ski area, Park City Mountain Resort, boasting 7,300 skiable acres and 41 chair lifts. For powder enthusiasts, Jupiter Bowl is a must, while intermediates can enjoy the King Con Express for some blue runs. Consider dining at Cloud Dine for lunch on the mountain, or grab salads and wraps at the Silver Star Café at the base.
Just a five-minute drive from town, the exclusive skiers-only Deer Valley features numerous impeccably groomed trails. If you're in Park City between December and March, don't miss the opportunity for a sleigh ride to the Viking Yurt on Park City Mountain, where you can savor a six-course meal at an elevation of 8,700 feet.
During the summer, Deer Valley boasts 70 miles of mountain biking trails accessible via three different chair lifts. Regardless of the season, wrap up a day of adventure at High West Distillery & Saloon, the only ski-in, ski-out distillery in the country. Here, you can tour the facility, enjoy hearty dishes like pretzels with whipped beer cheese, and sample award-winning whiskey, including the Campfire: a smoky blend of Scotch, bourbon, and rye.
Day Three
Start your day with tea, Millcreek coffee from Salt Lake City, and pastries at the indie bookstore Atticus Tea. If you’re looking for a change from skiing or biking, consider a visit to Utah Olympic Park. This remnant of the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games features a family-friendly museum, but the real highlight is the Comet Bobsled: a thrilling ride that takes daredevils through 18 hairpin turns on the official Olympic sliding track. Not for the faint-hearted, this adrenaline-fueled experience is available year-round.
Leave your Olympic aspirations behind and head back to Park City to enjoy lunch at El Chubasco, a casual order-at-the-counter cantina serving up tasty Mexican dishes. Spend the afternoon exploring local happenings or visit the Homestead Crater, a geothermal spring nestled within a 55-foot beehive-shaped limestone rock about 30 minutes from Park City. Guests can swim in the 95-degree waters, snorkel, or even take a paddleboard yoga class. Alternatively, for a more indulgent experience, treat yourself at the celebrity-favored St. Regis Deer Valley Remède Spa, where the hot poultice massage is truly divine.
For dinner, try one of Park City’s newest culinary hotspots, Handle. Located at the base of Main Street, Handle offers unforgettable dishes like trout sausage, fried chicken, and a must-try caramel pudding for dessert. Be sure to check the schedule and conclude your evening with a performance at Park City’s iconic Egyptian Theatre, a well-known venue for the Sundance Film Festival.
