Right in the heart of Silom and around the corner from Patpong. This hotel is quite central, but hidden away in a small alley from the street noise and bars. Great choice if you prefer to have a place within walking distance after a long night of fun. Skip the breakfast option, plenty to eat on the streets here.

Shocking Stereotyping at Tarntawan Hotel: Unfair Treatment of Indian GuestsI have always found Thai people to be incredibly friendly, and I truly love the rich culture of Thailand. It remains my top tourist destination, and I have visited the country several times over the years.However, during my stay at Tarntawan Hotel from September 11-18, 2022, I encountered an experience that deeply troubled me. As an Indian living in the USA, I was shocked by the discriminatory treatment I received upon checking out. The hotel staff claimed that a laundry bag was missing from my room and insinuated that I had taken it. Despite being certain that I hadn’t, and after searching both my luggage and the room, I couldn’t find the bag. The situation was awkward, and I ended up paying 200 baht for something I didn’t take, simply to avoid further conflict.I came to Thailand to visit and make some memories, not to steal a stupid laundry bag.Later, I learned that this kind of scrutiny is often reserved for Indian guests, while guests from other countries are not subjected to such checks. This feels like blatant stereotyping and racism. It’s disheartening to think that a nation known for its hospitality could treat guests in such a manner, based solely on their nationality.I urge fellow Indians to consider this before choosing to stay at this hotel. No one deserves to be treated unfairly based on stereotypes. I hope the management of Tarntawan Hotel reflects on this incident and makes efforts to ensure that all guests, regardless of their nationality, are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Hotel is in the Silom area on Surawongse road. Rooms are clean and spacious, but a little bit dated. Staff/Service was friendly and pleasant.

There is a sense of security because there are staff who can speak a little Japanese.The view from the window was not bad, and it was quiet and relaxing.The building is a little old, but it's well kept and there are no problems.There is a convenience store, food stall, and massage parlor in front of the hotel, and there is also a supermarket nearby, so I think the location is good.

I book this hotel because it is very near to Samyan MRT (7 mins walk) or to Sala Daeng BTS (6 mins walk). Perfect if you want to explore Bangkok by public transport.Please know that Surawong is the red light district in Bangkok. So, you will see a lot of massage parlors, clubs or bars, around this area especially at night. Don't get me wrong, it is safe to be in this area. No issue during our 5 nights stay at all. I walk around with my wife and 3 yo old son. All good.We like the hotel and the hospitality from the staff. Room is clean. We book the one with bath tub. Water pressure is okay. Hot water is always available and consistent during our stay.Bed is soft and big enough for 3 of us. AC is cold. Breakfast is okay, basic and not much options but enough for our morning. They give you menu to choose from. On the buffet table are just drinks (coffee, tea, orange juice, milk), bread and a toaster, fruits, and cereals.Easy to be found by Grab or Bolt driver. The traffic around this hotel can get very busy after working hour. Be sure to anticipate this before making any trip.7-11 is just outside this hotel. Very convenient. Lots of restaurants nearby too.The lift closes too fast, too quick, and hard. Becareful. Make sure someone press the open/hold button before you try to go in or out.

There are many massage parlours as well, just a 2 minute walk away.And then there's the Patpong Night Market that happens every night, and is just a 5 minute walk.The rooms are spacious, with all modern amenities.The breakfast is sumptuous. It's a set menu, and not a buffet breakfast though.Chinatown, Sukhumvit, Siam, Chatuchak, all the popular places are a quick Grab ride away.Would definitely recommend this place, if you are looking for a decent place to stay, without burning a hole in your pocket, during a quick stopover in Bangkok.
