Chillax Khaosok Hostel

We stayed at this hostel the night before spending the night in the floating bungalows on Khao Sok lake (booked through Chillax). The hostel itself doesn’t have any security for your belongings since are no lockers in the room for your bags and my friends room door didn't even lock. Also if you get the top bunk you only have a half curtain. The lake and experience itself was so beautiful, but the guides and the workers of the tour were so rude and treated us like we were on a field trip in grade school. Our guide was Whisky and she was so rude and unpleasant. There was certainly no effort to be pleasant and instead various people got speeches or scolded for the most minor mistakes (ex. two girls from our group sat at the other groups table during lunch because ours didn't have enough places - keep in mind were all doing the same tour and eating the same thing - and got yelled at by our guide and scolded in front of everyone like it was a huge deal). The entire tour was filled with lies and fear mongering, telling us stories of how people died or got hurt on this tour, telling us that if we swam past 6pm we'd get bit by a python, making us so scared of leeches on our trekking - i swear they were trying to scare people out of doing the trek to decrease numbers? The morning safari started at 6:30am, and at that time there were numerous people literally on the way to get on our boat and our guide just left without them even though they were maximum 30 seconds from getting on the boat. We finally convinced her to go back and get them and then she gave us all a huge speech about how in life you can't be late and proceeded to tell us that because we went back to pick them up we missed seeing all the elephants and that it was our fault that we didn't see any (not the fact that their wild elephants and its unlikely to see one). Also, my stuff and myself got absolutely soaked on the longtail boat to and from the bungalows so be prepared for that. The actual bungalows we're pretty basic, no power except for overnight and no AC. Also, we were a group of 3 and given a "family room" which ended up not even being an individual bungalow and instead just one of many rooms and bathrooms in a big floating building. Overall, the tour was incredibly disappointing. There was an insane amount of fear mongering, straight up lying, and rudeness. This tour has absolutely zero customer service and I do not recommend booking with Chillax.

The hostel is spacious, breakfast is superb, the staff is very helpful. I met some amazing people here.

The check-in was super smooth. I had informed them in advance that I wanted to book the Cheo Lan Lake overnight tour and they had kept a booking reserved for me. I paid upon arrival.

We had a wonderful stay in this hostel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was awesome. We booked the overnight jungle tour with them and everything was just perfect. Nearby, there is the possibility to rent a motorcycle for a few baht and there is also a gas station available. All in all we can recommend it to 100%!!

A lovely hostel, staff is amazing and helped us plan everything we neededThe lake trip is amazing and we had a great time, it is all planned perfectly for you!!Would definitely recommend this hostel however only stay for 1-2 nights (one being the floating bungalows) as there is not a lot around the hostels :)

The national park itself is great to see, however I would recommend only a day trip.I booked the coral cave tour and personally feel that it is extremely overpriced. There was not a lot of food between the group for our lunch on the first day and we also had “lunch” on the second day at 10:30 am. I feel like the lunch could be organised for slightly later, or just lower the price and don’t include a lunch for the second day.Also, we were initially informed that you have to pay 200 baht to go into the caves on the first day, however when we arrived we were told we can’t do the evening safari unless we come to the caves and pay the 200 baht. Myself and my partner were not interested in the caves and were happy to only do the evening safari so we were disappointed to hear that we have to pay extra to go to the caves to allow for us to also do the evening safari. Therefore, this should be stated more clearly on the itinerary which is advertised.The bed in the room was pretty uncomfortable but did the job for one night.Overall, lovely location but I would recommend a day tour over a 2D/1N tour.

The staff here were super helpful!! We stayed in a private room for 1 night as we had booked to visit Khao Sok National Park the next day through Chillax.We booked the “Coral Cave” tour which was 2500 THB each (not including National Park fees) to stay overnight on one of the floating bungalows. The tour was fab and included 2 x lunch, 1 x dinner and 1 x breakfast. You’re able to swim / kayak in the lake for free, as well as take part in a late night river safari and early morning safari (we saw monkeys!).For an extra 200 THB you can visit Coral Cave, where you have to walk through the jungle for 20 mins and then take a bamboo boat to the cave entrance.Only downside was that the beds are rock hard and with only a fan in the room, it’s still very hot. For one night though, it’s manageable and worth it for the experience!

Did not sleep in the hostel itself, but booked the Khao Sok overnight tour with Chillax.Tour was okay but felt a bit rushed. We lost quite a lot of time in the park itself due to the bus ride that took twice as long as indicated. There was also far too little food for the group, especially during lunch and breakfast.We did the Nam Tula cave tour and unfortunately became ill due to probably the bat droppings in the water, something that apparently happens more often to people who do this tour..On the way back, one of my friends left his drone in the tour mini bus. He contacted the hostel but after an initial response, all his attempts were ignored. Very poor customer service and would personally recommend looking for another organization.

I did the tour with this hostel, it was okay, very touristy but the guide was cool.The organization was okay, but there were money thefts (a local stole from wallets) while we were at the table and had our money in the rooms...so be careful with your belongings. But overall, the tour is okay 👍🏽
