JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort Suites

A 1.5 hour drive from Phuket International Airport, the hotel is located beachfront, quite a distance in from Khao Lak's mainroad, so you cannot walk out and need to rely on transportation to get out to the city centre or other places. There ia a convenience store and a small supermarket just outside the hotel entrance if you need anything urgently. There are local restaurants located on the left and right of the hotel when you stand facing the beach, which also offer taxi, laundry and massage services.The hotel itself is in great condition with many fun spaces in the pool for kids as well as a kids' club, recreation room and play areas, marshmellow roasting activities on the sand, magician shows, dances and more. Special focus on the bamboo shark nursery, it was a great time for the kids and adults alike.The several restaurants are good with special mention about Drift and Olive which had spectacular quality food. Breakfast buffet at Waterfront had a good array of Indian, Western and Asian cuisine, with the usual egg stations, cold cuts, bakery, etc. Although there was a destination wedding the past weekend, the wedding guests had their breakfast served in a different location so the regular guests did not feel any overcrowding whatsoever.Overall a great stay at the hotel except for a few points for feedback. Like requesting for a buggy and waiting for a very long time and it never turned up so we ended up walking a distance (I have mobility issues so it wasn't great). And also the millipede we found in our 2 bedroom suite with pool access plus the giant cockroach in our children's bathroom plus the wasp we found struggling in the water (we saved it from drowning in the end). The multiple flies entering our room and whilst swimming too was noted. Another feedback is the tile surface in the pool in the suites area was ok but not the resort side, it was bumpy and some tiles had come out. It was a little difficult to walk.We also left the door unlocked accidentally once and a staff walked in without pressing the bell or knocking. When he saw me sitting in the living area, he quickly exited. This made us more concerned about security and became more conscious about keeping the door locked at all times.However, we enjoyed our stay amd we will return again and will highly recommend the pool access rooms on the suites side.

The Marriott is already an older Hotel, which added two wings recently. Three of those buildings consist of suites. Thus the name. We had a two bedroom duplex suite. Amazing rooms with three huge flatscreen TVs, large bathroom and a small kitchen. However, there is one big negative: They do not offer the Marriott signature beds. They only have economical, very hard and uncomfortable mattresses. When I addressed this problem at the reception, three different people didn’t have no idea what I was talking about. Considering that I am a Marriott, Bonvoy member, and have a lot of experience with the various hotels, I would expect that the respective brand offers the signature bed. Considering that Marriott has some 20 hotels in the area, you better check first, if they offer the respective beds (e.g. Westin heavenly beds).The resort is huge. They connected all the pools, to a total of 3 km for swimming. The beach is nice, although due to the continuous breeze and slight chop, the sand is stirred up and the water is a bit murky. There are a couple of cheap Thai restaurants and Massage places on the beach.The thai restaurant in the hotel is quite good and not too expensive.Italian restaurant is really excellent.The breakfast is also very good. They offer of course various Asian choices. Try it!

Magnificent hotel, very rich breakfast, perfect location

Family rooms are ideal for families with children. Service, interior - everything is top notch. Price equals quality. I recommend it.

JW Marriott Kho Lak had the potential to be one of the best experiences, but unfortunately, it fell short on multiple fronts. While the newly renovated wing was impressive and the Deluxe room with pool access was enjoyable, it was disappointing that the pool water was boiling hot, making it suitable for a jacuzzi experience.The overall up-keeping of the hotel did not meet the standards expected of a Marriott property.Despite holding ambassador status and being told that we were upgraded based on our tier, we were given the room we had originally booked.The gaming rooms were run down and outdated, lacking the modern amenities one would expect. Both the cafeteria Sala and Deli had service issues and there was a significant language barrier, resulting in poor communication. The food outlets were overpriced, and the quality of the food was mediocre at best.The hotel's misleading marketing, such as the nonexistent coconut boat and staff walking away during marshmallow toasting, was disappointing.While the breakfast spread offered a wide variety of options, it lacked the signature Marriott feel and class.On a positive note, the sunset BBQ at Olive showcased the best in gourmet products and was led by an amazing Italian chef. However, the service team failed to match his passion for food and hospitality.In conclusion, the JW Marriott Kho Lak has the potential to be a great choice for those unfamiliar with the Marriott brand. However, for frequent visitors who expect the high standards associated with Marriott, it may prove to be a disappointment.

The service is as good as JW's name. The employees are friendly and attentive to service. And the place is beautiful and looks very classy. The swimming pool is nice to swim in. And the place next to the sea

Amzing hotel, loft room is supereb, noting near so you need to take taxi all the time

I stayed in a new building inside the Khao Lak Marriott Resort, where all rooms are called Stort Rooms. We stayed on the second floor in a 2 bed 2 bathroom villa.You can use the same restaurants, pools, etc. as in other buildings.This building is the farthest from the sea and near the reception.The room also had a kitchen, which was useful for eating fruits and other things we bought at the market.I ordered dessert from room service once, but it wasn't very good, so I recommend buying fruit at a street store or at a 7-Eleven.The nearest town? It takes about 5 minutes by car. The shuttle bus makes about 6 round trips. But it's not free. I think tuk-tuk taxis are convenient since the time zones are sensitive. But I didn't ride it because it wasn't cheap and I was worried about an accident.There are also many activities. Great for children too. We were only there for a few days, so we stayed at the hotel the whole time, but we were satisfied with the activities at the hotel. There are free and paid versions.There is also a medical office where you can get simple treatments for a fee (about $10 for disinfection and bandages) and you don't need insurance.I have decided that I will definitely come back again, but next time I'm wondering if I could stay in a regular room, even if it's old.If you have a float, you should bring it!
