Sweet Homestay Sidemen

We spent three nights in sweet home. On the day of arrival we were able to arrive very late without any problems!The room is small but clean. However, there is no sink in the bathroom and the water supply is also exciting. You have to flip a switch and sometimes the toilet doesn't flush.Unfortunately we had an ant infestation. Our bathroom and all of our luggage were full.The breakfast was very tasty! You can choose between toast with egg and pancakes, as well as juice or fresh fruit and tea or coffee.The hosts were very friendly! The small terrace in front of the room was also comfortable.However, if you are afraid of dogs, this accommodation is not suitable, as there is a dog on the way in the neighboring yard who follows you barking and growling.

Great experience, the spa (massage) is very nice(for additional costs), the room is clean, the bathroom doesn’t have a sink so you have to be okay with using the shower for some things. It isn’t too hot in the room, there is no ac but it is very doable. Could rent a scooter for only 70k and the restaurant has amazing food!! They organize some tours but also let you do your own thing if you prefer.

4 night stay here at Sweet Homestay very very disappointing largely due to the owner of the place.The room was small but the bed was comfortable, lack of space to store personal belongings.The bathroom doesn't have a sink (???!!!) so when you brush your teeth in the shower you get your feet wet, not very pleasant.In addition the toilet malfunctions and you have to open the flush block each time to check if the flush is correctly positioned, we found ourselves without water the first night to shower and when we warned the owner, This one told us that it was our fault because we had not done the manipulation that he had told us. We don't find this normal at all!The place is very noisy, yet in a village, because you are in the hosts' compound (homestay), incessant motorcycle noise, guests sweeping in front of our door very early in the morning around 6 am.On the last day, we wanted to withdraw money to be able to have dinner because we did not have enough cash and the nearest ATM did not work, we asked the owner for advice who showed us another ATM 50m down the road main location, which turns out to be false, this one was in another village at the exit of Sidemen.Fortunately, two young people from the village accompanied us on a motorbike.The next morning, check-out day, we pay the bill for our 4 nights + scooter and we feel a form of pressure to vacate the room as quickly as possible even though check-out is at 11am. At 9:30 am, we are told that there are guests arriving today and that we must vacate the room (unheard of!!!) and we confirm that we will leave before the indicated check-in time -out.Huge lack of courtesy and education on the part of the owner. The rest of the family is pleasant.I don't recommend the place because it was a bad experience for my husband and me.

We stayed 4 nights, but wish we had booked fewer days. The only positive part is that breakfast was included (pancake with some fruit), the rest of the stay was not very pleasant.It is a really noisy accommodation, at night it is difficult to fall asleep, the Homestay family does not stop spitting and it is not pleasant to hear (and see) this every moment. The walls are very thin and you can hear someone talking on the phone as if they were in the same room. There are noises of motorcycles coming and going in the Homestay continuously. At 6:00 am they start sweeping in front of your door, making it impossible to rest.The room is very small, it only fits the bed and two backpacks, and there is only one plug. The worst part is the bathroom, there is no sink but a faucet, there is no mirror either, and to flush the toilet you must follow a technique that is explained to you at the beginning because the system is broken and you must follow it carefully because otherwise there is no water. I think it would be a good idea to hire a plumber and avoid this situation, since the water sometimes does not come out. Also, the WiFi has a very low signal.As if this were not enough, the owner is not friendly or pleasant at all. To give an example, he is usually not in the Homestay but in the restaurant in front of them. On the last day, we went to the ATM closest to the accommodation (550m), but it did not work. That last night, we went to ask him for the invoice to pay for his stay and to ask if we could pay him by card, since otherwise we would not have enough cash to have dinner (in his restaurant, we were there for that). He told us that there was another ATM at another address. A friendly European couple who were eating at that time offered to change money for us, but the owner insisted that we go to the other ATM (thank you!!). The surprise was to discover after walking a little in the indicated direction, that the ATM was more than 8 km away. We didn't have a scooter (something the owner knew since he rented it to us the previous days), and luckily we found 2 young people who could give us a ride. Good people, like these young people, fortunately, exist. But there are also people who unfortunately have no intention of helping, not even their clients.On the day of check out (scheduled until 11:00 am) he rudely asks us at 9:25 when we are going to leave because they have to clean the room. We didn't understand anything.It has not been the cheapest accommodation we have paid for in Bali, because if there are other options, they are undoubtedly better than this one.

I was the first one that could stay in their new build room (first floor). What a view!Great stay, good breakfast.Friendly and want to help with anything they can.Also had a lovely massage.They have their own warung on the otherside of the street... good food.Terima kasih banyak!

I found most of the family to be rude. I read a review that the owner stole money from some people and it doesn't surprise me. Although they will put up a nice smile when they want to. …

We enjoyed the restaurant and massage. The dishes and drinks (juices) served at Sweet Homstay were of a pretty good standard - fresh, aromatic and tasty.However, I would most like to recommend taking advantage of the massage offered by the facility. Performed in the comfort of your home by a wonderful, polite and very professional masseuse - Komang. I have used her services three times and if I stayed at Sidemen longer, I would happily go to her again!

We came to Sidemen from super crowded, busy Kuta and from, kinda annoying, Kintamani. Stayed in Sweet homestay for five days and it was the best place so far from our Bali holidays! Helpful and friendly owner running guesthouse and small warung with his family.He took us twice for few hours trip; to local distillery of Arak, to Gembleng waterfall and to city near by, Klungkung. All for reasonable price.Warung is really small, and we understand that it's hard to prepare all drinks and meals at once in a small kitchen. I have to say the traditional food and all meals are worthy! Nicely decorated, containing most of the ingredients as the concrete meal should have. Also, reasonable prices 40-60R. Finally found also traditional Dadar Gulung (rice pancakes with coconut). Delicious! As all the traditional meals were!Fresh and tasty breakfast everyday - fruits, pancake and juice. Bali coffee!We also tried all kinds of Arak drinks, Honey Arak is the best one!As a bonus, restaurant has naturally beautiful and romantic view to the rice fields!Sidemen is really calm place, where even the locals don't shout at you to sell you something and they just let you be in peace. Also place with many attractions to see/do. As silver workshop, weaving factory, mesmerising rice fields, waterfalls,...or just walk in the nature, and surprisingly, breath the fresh air.Thank you so much for making our vacation better!

This Warung is absolutely recommendable. Very good food and arak Cocktails. Also the Tours can bei highly recommended. We did the Scooter Tour and the Temple Tour (Water Temple, bat Temple, Kings palace) with reasonable prices. …
