Tropical paradisePesona Papua Homestay is a wonderful family-run establishment next to the awesome Child Aid Papua High School. We stayed here in two wooden over-water bungalows including a large outdoor sitting area, a daybed, hammock and outdoor table. The 180-grade view from the terrace is amazing! The room is spacious with enough cupboards to store things and a real bed with a bed frame and large moscito net, very comfortable. The water gurgles under the hut at high tide, the birds and sounds of the jungle are soothing and relaxing. Food is varying every day with vegetables, rice, eggs, sometimes fresh fish. All meals are brought to the hut by the nice ladies of the family. For day trips they even prepare cute picknick baskets. The owner is a reliable skipper and brought us every day to another heavenly snorkeling spot (together with Edy, the super nice snorkel guide). The homestay is centrally located in a wonderful area and has a perfect mix of remote “far-away” feeling while being ideally in the middle of the gems of Raja Ampat, as the snorkel and dive spots Arborek, Beser Bay, Citrus Ridge, Cape Kri, Friwen Wall, Sauwandarek, Pianemo Islands etc. Practicalities: the bathroom is nearby in a separate hut and consists of a room with two large water basins and next door a sitting toilet. Energy is available from 6pm to 6am, take a blanket, it can get a little dump at night, so bring (cotton) clothes that dry quickly. We will definitely come back and stay there again and recommend the place to anyone for views, location, large (indoor and outdoor) space, vicinity to the village Sawinggrai and the relaxing and private atmosphere. Do not miss a visit to the extraordinary Child Aid Papua High School next door and see with how much competency, great kindness, and professional equipment (incl. computers, volleyball court, boarding school houses) they manage the education of the children in the areas of science, health and environment.
