It was truly unique to stay in a Toraja house. The setup is very simple but completely sufficient. Everyone put in a lot of effort. We were picked up from the bus station early in the morning at 4:30 a.m. and luckily we were able to go straight to the accommodation. Since the house is a bit out of the way and the way to town is a bit long, Aldi drove us to dinner and picked us up from there. We were also able to rent a scooter from him without any problems, everything worked out great! The Toraja House is somewhat remote, but you have absolute peace and a beautiful view. We can only recommend staying here :)!

Aldi was an AMAZING host! He went above and beyond for both of us - for example, getting dinner from a local restaurant for us in the evenings, picking and dropping us off to the bus (even when very early in the morning!) and helping us get a guide for the funeral ceremonies and other activities. The home stay/ house (Tongkonan) that we stayed in is beautifully traditional (as all the photos on Google show). The place is so peaceful and offers a truly traditional Tarajan experience. There is access to a scooter to be able to go into Rantepao town, but we also liked to walk to one end of it as well (Kanna cafe was a favourite cafe of ours). All the locals are so friendly and welcoming. Aldi and his family were honestly the perfect hosts. We can’t thank them enough for a wonderful 3 night stay! We would highly recommend to everyone who visits Rantepao 😊Kurre sumanga buda-buda, Aldi and family.
