Thank you Philip and Gail for creating a dream home that gave me an unforgettable experience, and thank you Pen for providing attentive service and a sincere smile that exceeded expectations.This is a peaceful and beautiful place. The scenery is pleasant, the air is fresh, and it has its own healing power. The hosts Philip and Gail can give us a variety of experience activities, allowing us to deeply understand and feel the local customs.Because it was the rainy season this time and there was flooding, we were unable to participate in the cave exploration activities. We hope to have the opportunity to experience it again next time.Here are my heartfelt suggestions for friends who want to experience it:1. This is just a B&B, not an international hotel. So, don’t have high, unrealistic expectations. The atmosphere here is really great and the service is attentive and moderate. You feel they go out of their way to serve their guests. This has been very touching.2. This is a remote mountainous area in Southeast Asia, where mosquitoes and small animals are inevitable. If you find some insects or reptiles in the room, please tell the staff and they will deal with it promptly. If you are very concerned, please do not choose here.3. If there are any special anniversaries, please inform the host in advance and they will be happy to prepare surprise activities for the guests. It's very exciting to operate it exactly according to the guest's wishes.I hope to return here soon. See you next time.

For anyone seeking the perfect escape in Mae Hong Son, I cannot recommend this resort highly enough. It is a hidden gem that provides a unbelievable experience in every way possible.The location is spectacularly beautiful, set in the picturesque mountains, and the accommodation makes the most of the setting. There are so many fantastic activities to enjoy and places to explore, we could have spent far more time here. Would really recommend the kayaking, caving and renting a motorbike to explore the hills.The food at the Eyre was fantastic and there were also several great restaurants nearby that the staff helped us find, alongside arranging a memorable Christmas dinner at Kanlaya's with all the guests.The best part of the stay however was the service, Philip and Gale could not have been more attentive. They helped me plan an unforgettable engagement, and we had great fun concocting ideas for how to do it. We used their mountain hut and they provided a wonderful breakfast as we watched sunrise over the Burmese border. They even hid a bottle of fizz in a tree for us!I really cannot recommend Kanlaya enough, we had the perfect stay with them and they took real pleasure in hosting us. We hope to visit again soon!

Too bad I can only give 5 stars because Kanlaya's is worth 10 stars! This stay is by far the most beautiful stay I have ever stayed in 🥰 The location and the gardens are like paradise, the service is exceptional, the beds are wonderful, the food is great, the dog and cat are adorable and Philip and Gayle make you feel at home from the very first moment. Philip is also super fun to talk to and taught us a lot about the area, nature, the people and gave us great tips for our trip through the area. Unfortunately we only stayed 1 night 🙁we can recommend it to everyone!

My partner and I celebrated our one year anniversary at Kanyala’s. I really appreciated Philip, Kanyala and their team’s effort into making this a great day. We enjoyed every minute of the Honeymoon suite. I would recommend having dinner at Kanyala’s. The use of local ingredients added to the experience! We hope to return one day!

The traditional Thai dinner service was outstanding. The grounds are lovely.Room had a few cobwebs and the complimentary water had mold growing in it. At first we thought maybe it was kombucha but realized it wasn't when the other water was clear. Not sealed so probably was sitting around for a while.The traditional Thai massage was very nice. And the setting was very peaceful but a little cold. The day we visited it had been raining a while so to be expected.

This is going to be a long review, but if you are considering staying here and want a real, local Thai experience, keep reading. This place is NOT touristy and we were among a small handful of foreigners in the area during our stay.We stayed at KE for 3 days and it was one of my favorite destinations of the month long trip to SE Asia. Gail, Phillip, and Pen (Gail’s sister) are wonderfully warm and accommodating people who made our stay so special and unique. Gail (Kanlaya) gave us the most amazing tour of the area over several days. We drank local coffee which was grown nearby, with beans still warm from the day’s roasting, hand ground in front of us and prepared in the local fashion.We expressed interest in exploring caves and Gail took us all over and joined us as we navigated the sometimes treacherous caves. They provided us with local guides for the caves, one which included being chest deep in an underground river! Aside from hanging out with Gail (who I wished was my new best friend) we opted to have dinner at the property for two nights. And OMG, the food was unreal. very authentic northern Thai cuisine, made by Gail and her sister, Pen.The property itself has been carefully designed by the hosts, integrating the local geology and plants into the architecture. Phillip is an absolute thrill to chat with. He’s very knowledgeable on the culture and geology of the area and we enjoyed many lively fireside conversations in the evenings.Our room was decorated and designed with intense attention to detail. Wonderful views. Great birdwatching opportunities.Do not miss this opportunity! I cannot express this enough. Wonderful in every way. Thanks again for hosting us and showing us the magical beauty of Northern Thailand.

We had the most amazing experience staying at Kanlaya’s Eyrie and our only regret was that we only had 1 night there. The hospitality is impeccable and Philip is incredibly knowledgeable in regards to local activities, nature/wildlife and customs. We’re also so excited about our weavings from the local Karen Hill Tribe which the resort rooms are adorned with. Would highly recommend a stay here!
