We recently stayed at this charming beachfront bungalow resort on Ko Mak. It’s located slightly away from the main area and offers a peaceful retreat. The bungalows were cozy and had everything we needed - with air conditioning, a fan, a kettle, etc. The beach was perfect for swimming and long walks, with plenty of shaded areas to relax in. A standout feature was the excellent on-site restaurant, and the uninterrupted ocean views were wonderful. But what truly made the experience memorable were the hosts, Dee and Nook. Their warm hospitality and attentiveness made us feel incredibly welcome. Thanks also to Jay, who speaks excellent English, German and Spanish, and who shared recommendations for exploring Ko Mak and nearby areas. We visited during the off-season and felt like we were reconnecting with old friends. It was a wonderful stay, and I can't wait to return. Highly recommended!

It is indeed directly located at the beach and run by a housekeeper, who also speaks German. The sunbeds are free to use and there’s relaxed atmosphere around the small bar at the beach. The staff tries to keep the beach as clean as possible, nevertheless on this side of the island there's a lot trash in the sea, which eventually ends up on the cleaned beach. Next to our bungalow there was a (bigger) bar. We got lucky that there wasn't too much loud music playing, but that might be different during high season. On the other side of our bungalow was a restaurant with tasty foods, but unfortunately also very bright lights in the evening. The bungalow itself was big enough and had everything we needed, including a welcoming mini fridge. Nevertheless the interior and atmosphere was somehow not too comforting.

This place was absolute heaven to us for 5 days: the entire island is gorgeous, but staying with nook, dee & their fantastic staff, being cooked for & taken superb care of by simb & her lovely family was one the highlights of our thailand stay! special shout-out to je (who will move mountains for you), mo and his solar pannelled bamboo motorbike & my man garfield!!The bungalows are simple, but literally right on the beach & perfectly suitable, the view out of the window is stunning, andt there is a lot of love and attention put into this place, just be aware of mossies & sandflies (they do everything to manage those, but it's impossible)!Defo coming back next year!🫶🫶

Great place on the beach. Caretaker works really hard to keep it clean. Lots of chairs and tables to use. Also, bar in the garden close to the beach.

The very definition of relaxation. I am currently having a superb stay here, the rooms are clean and spacious, the bedding comfortable, the absolute calm during the day. From 6 p.m. a little light music comes from the bar next door, but it's really not disturbing.Choice of breakfasts, copious and very good cuisine.Thank you for everything !

Family complex with cottages right on the beach. Amazing place to relax. The complex includes a restaurant and 2 bars, yet is quiet and suitable for anyone avoiding busy tourist resorts. During the day, we were almost alone here, the number of people did not exceed the number 10. Right on the beach, you can enjoy a massage, which was an excellent experience with the sound of sea waves. The restaurant provides a large selection of great dishes. The beach is practically one of the best on the island and the sunset during dinner is sure to appeal to any traveler. We have not seen a better place on Ko Mak.

Small complex with 3 bungalows, in need of some renovation. Very easy. Bathroom should be renovated and also the room. Refrigerator available. As always, there are a few hooks missing for hanging. Breakfast according to menu. Restaurant on the beach expensive. It's a shame that we don't even look to the right and left here. It's a bit very dirty in the corners of the facility. You could do more with it. Staff is very nice. Rooms are cleaned upon request. You can rent a moped here.The plus point of the bungalow is that it is right on the beach, you can always hear the waves. There's no happy hour here, but it's right next door. Great view at sunset. OK for 2 to 3 nights.

We just fehlt at Home. On top of a very clean room and amazing breakfast we got to hang out with the owners Nook and D and the amazing Jay. He showed us around the Island rented us his bamboo e-bikes and showed us how to make some local crafts. 11/10 stars!!!

We stayed at Baanyai 2 weeks ago, for a week, and loved it so much we have come back again already. Very well looked after by the team here, everyone is so sweet and helpful, they try to make your stay as perfect as possible.The food is great, they have a large menu and everything we have eaten here has been very tasty. We had freshly caught fish one night which was really exceptional!For us, the location is perfect, right on my favourite Koh Mak beach, with a few other restaurants nearby so you can choose different places to eat for a bit of variety, and walks along the beach are so nice with stunning sunsets every evening.Mr Dee's family is one of the oldest families on the island, and it's really interesting to hear his stories about the island. We stayed in one of the garden rooms which are part of the Baanyai main house, which has been here for 150 years. They also have a few bungalows right on the beach. Highly recommend staying at Baanyai!
