A really inexpensive 2-star hotel close to the Shin-Imamiya train station which serves the entire city and will even allow you to visit Kyoto, Nara, Ikoma, Kobe...There is also the Dōbutsuen-mae subway station nearby.Near the reception, water, teas, coffees were free and available at all times. The room is traditional and it made me happy to sleep in a truly traditional Japanese hotel, it is spacious, the sheets were clean, there were also tissues available and an extension cord to plug in your phone or computer. The walls of the room are well soundproofed unlike the backpakers Toyo hotel. It is therefore a cheap and quite simple location to visit Osaka and its surroundings. There is also the Shin Sekai for eating or exploring and the mega Don Quijote for shopping, both of which are less than 15 minutes away on foot. The staff is very friendly, they even stored my luggage after I checked out.In the room there were also towels, air conditioning, TV, fridge, toothbrushes with toothpaste. On the other hand, take the non-smoking room if you don't smoke. There is a Japanese bath which is available for those who want to relax with pleasant warmth like in an onsen. The hotel is quite old but it has its charm and it has an elevator which works very well allowing you to move around with ease. The Nishinari-ku district is a fairly poor district with a lot of misery. Many locals and even Japanese from other cities like Tokyo told me to pay attention to this area. However, I didn't feel insecure while walking around even late at night around 2 or 3 a.m. I have never seen violent acts like we know in Western Europe in sensitive neighborhoods. If you can get this hotel I think it's a great deal especially if you want to visit several cities. However, the only criticism I can make is that check-in is quite early (10:00 a.m.) and that the showers close quite quickly; they are no longer available after 11:00 p.m. Also the reception closes at 7:00 p.m. so be at the hotel to check in before 7:00 p.m. otherwise you risk not getting your room.

When I'm in the room, there's no phone signal at all.So I can't answer the phone at all and I have to go outside the hotel to hear the radio waves. This is my first time in a hotel like this. There is no phone connection in the room. It's the worst.

You can enjoy the deep Nishinari atmosphere. For Nishinari beginners. Historically, the surrounding area developed as a town for day laborers. For this reason, there are many simple accommodation facilities for people who look like vagrants and people on welfare. It is not originally an inn for backpackers, so be aware of this before using it. Men can use the public bath from 16:00 to 21:00. It's lukewarm water. Microwave, free tea, and water heater available. There is a paid washing machine. There's no kitchen.
