Absolutely great connection to the Nature of Yakushima. Amazing location, allows you to spend quiet time connecting to nature. Transfers to their minshuku is between 4pm and 8pm.

Set deep in the forest, this place has the feel of a summer camp. The rooms are large and comfortable, the food is outstanding Japanese fare (definitely ask for the outdoor barbeque--they set it all up and provide excellent meat, fish and vegetables to grill), and the attentive, friendly service--providing us with hiking boots and equipment, having our table in communal dining lodge set up with food and drink at exactly the time we requested, taking our picture at the barbeque even though it was the busy dinner hour--all add up to a magical stay. We stayed for four days, wish we had stayed longer.

Beyond imagination.When I thought of a lodge, I had the image of only having the bare minimum of things and services, but this one was wonderful in every way. I thought the toilet and sink would be shared, but I was shocked to find out that the room had a bed, a TV, hangers, and furries. We had a private bath for all three nights, so the bath was well-equipped and the view was wonderful.The staff at the lodge were very kind, and when I told them that I would not be able to get to Yakushima because my flight was canceled due to bad weather, they were very helpful and provided me with various transportation options. Since I was planning to go trekking the next day, I rented climbing equipment. The prices are more reasonable than other rental shops, you don't have to go back to return the items, and the equipment is very clean.I mostly ate lunch from the supermarket for breakfast and dinner, so the homemade food really stuck with me...I'd love to visit you again if I have the chance.One point, when heading to the lodge, instead of typing ``Yaetake Sanso'' on the map, it is better to type ``Southern Japan Dairy Association Yakushima Factory'' (for those who are lost).

A great location for exploring Yakushima. Stayed 3 nights in one of the older chalets - NB these do not have showers, so you use the onsen. Chalets are clean and with their own toliet and sink, and ours had a pergola! …

Our family of four (2 adults, 2 teens) had a lovely visit to Yaedake Sanso. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we took advantage of the free transportation into town often. Highly recommend

I had a comfortable time. The surrounding trees and the structure of the lodge, I stayed there suddenly so I only stayed overnight, but I think it's good for people who like the warmth of trees. The roadside store, Yaedake Main Building, is more suitable for mountain climbing and is conveniently located near the Miyanoura bus stop, but if you plan on hiking in a rental car, I think you can spend a relaxing time there!Good memories from Yakushima. It's an inn I'd like to visit again.Thank you for the shuttle.

The room and the service at Yaedake Lodge was exceptional. Location of the lodge is perfect, minutes from town but in a secluded forest area. We opted in for both breakfast and dinner served by the hotel and each meal was incredible. We were able to arrange for a bento lunch from with the staff for our hike ahead of time. Staff was very helpful after our long day of hiking in the rain, they provided us with shoes dryer to dry our soaking wet shoes overnight which helped tremendously as we were leaving the next morning. They even helped us to book a local massage therapist to come to our room to alleviate our sore muscles after couple of days of hiking.If I come to back to Yakushima, I would definitely stay at Yaedake Lodge again.The staff speaks English so you can book the rooms by calling Yaedake directly.

It was in a great location with easy access to Shiratani Unsuikyo, and the atmosphere of a tropical lodge in the jungle was great. As expected, the rice was made with local food, and the flying fish was particularly delicious and memorable. It was a very satisfying lodge where you could rent a canoe for free, trekking equipment at a low price, and enjoy a unique bath. Moreover, it is cheap

I stayed in Kigensugi's room for 4 nights. There is even a hammock on the private deck where you can relax while listening to the sound of the river and looking at the forest. There is a Japanese-style room + bedroom, so you can relax and be very satisfied! However, I could hear something like a low mechanical sound coming from somewhere (all night long), which bothered me and made it difficult to sleep. My friend who was staying with me didn't notice much and was sleeping soundly. Might be a concern for people who are sensitive to sound? ! It seemed like the sound was coming from outside, not from the facility, such as the outdoor unit or boiler. It was a very convenient location as it was close to the Shiratani Unsuikyo parking lot. Services such as rental of climbing shoes are also available.

The bath ♨️ was good. Being in the mountains, there are probably a lot of insects in the summer, so there were pesticides everywhere. It was a little nostalgic that the toilet was outside, but it might be harsh in winter (lol). It was very atmospheric and the breakfast was delicious!

Don’t get me wrong, the lodge itself is fantastic! The location is so lovely next to the river, where there’s a hammock, a bbq area, canoes to rent and a few baths to choose from. The cabins are comfortable, and although we didn’t have beds the futons were nice but the pillows were awful. My mum and I both strained our necks after one night.What I will say, is that the staff was not welcoming at all. They never bothered to ask us how our day was (we speak Japanese fluently so it’s not the language barrier), only really said good morning and good evening and if we wanted nori or natto for breakfast.My mum was ill on the last day and even though I knew check out was at 10am, I asked if he could push it to 11am. He asked why, and I said my mum was sick and needed to rest just a bit more. He told me that if she’s not feeling well she should go to the hospital and reminded me check out was at 10am. There was zero empathy or flexibility.I had gone for a hike and mum had to leave by 10. He said he would drive her and my mum thinking he would take her to the pier or somewhere accessible and easy to get to the port later, he dropped her off at the closest drop off point, didn’t even bother helping her with her suitcase and my mum had to wait 30 minutes for a bus to take her to the port while she was feeling ill.The least he could have done was given her the timetable for the buses and let her rest until the time of the bus, and also helped her with her suitcase!Being a host means taking care of the guests, being kind, friendly and helpful. We didn’t really feel that and it was such a shame.
