Great location for exploring the area and for the train station. Very comfortable and quiet room, no noise at all. Small room, but big bed. Small toilet/sink area but big wet room shower/bath, with loads of hot water and very clean. Would definitely recommend.

It's a little walk from the station. The room is small, but I have no complaints as a space to stay. The tall man responded sincerely. The next day, a young female staff member wearing glasses and a male staff member were talking privately, and I was disappointed that they lacked a sense of service.

The front desk male staffer working on Aug 31st 4:45pm. I think he had glasses, i didn't get his name but I am writing this positive review because of him. He went above and beyond any normal standard and made this a 5 star experience. He offered suggestions for refreshments nearby after seeing us carry 3 large shopping bags, sweating and catching our breath in the heat. We were coming back to pick up our luggage since we had already checked out. He offered to order a taxi because we had 2 very heavy luggage, a small luggage and 2 backpacks. But when we said we were going to Haneda airport, he said it will be very expensive (90-100,000 yen) but you can also walk 5 mins to the bus stop 3 blocks from here and it will cost you 1/3 of the price (1400 yen per person) and take you directly to the airport (1 stop). He was very friendly, kind and took a great deal of initiative (without being asked) to make our trip and transport better. I wish I got his name because I don't think many 5 star hotel staff will even do this. This was hotel #5-6 after travelling to Osaka, Kyoto, Okinawa, Ishigaki and Hokkaido. Staff at this hotel are fluent in English, first time I saw that in all of my hotel stays in other cities including Osaka. Thank you to this staffer for being SO kind and thoughtful. You really left an impression on us!I highly recommend this hotel for the helpful staff (friendly to foreigners), 10-15 min walk to Shinjuku station, larger bed size (Queen instead of double) and mostly very clean (we did find a small piece of hair when I wiped the sink faucet handle). I bring disinfectant wipes to clean high touch surfaces of hotel rooms (remotes, tables, handles, toilet seat etc). Air conditioning was very strong and you can adjust the temperature to your liking. The dehumidifier worked very well to get rid of the musty scent other guests mentioned. Rooms are small like every hotel in Tokyo but it is designed for you to just sleep and have a small bite in the room. Very large bathtub and shower. It's the perfect room size for 2 people (we booked a Queen Room). Has a mini fridge, kettle, cups and hair dryer in your room. Hotel also offers complimentary toothbrush, Q-tips, disposable slippers, razor, tea, coffee, shower cap etc. Being close to Shinjuku station helps connect you to all the Tokyo Metro lines which we found helpful since we bought the 72 hour metro pass. There's a lot of other private rail companies and lines (that does not belong to Tokyo Metro) so if you want to use your Tokyo Metro Pass, you need to check if it is part of the 8-10 Tokyo Metro subway lines. Otherwise, you have to pay extra either cash or using your IC Card (which you can only top up in Japan with cash if you do not have a Japanese credit card). We would prefer to be a 5 min walk to Shinjuku to get to and from places more easily but for the price and quality, it was difficult to find a hotel that has Queen size beds at this price and quality. Tokyo is expensive so you can pay more to be 5 mins closer or just plan your days better so you don't need to go back to your hotel mid-day. We slept in till 10am or 11am and was out till about 9pm almost everyday. It gave us a chance to sightsee in the day and see the city come alive at night. It was perfect for Tokyo. In Osaka, our hotel was 1 min from the subway so we would go back and rest before going out again but depends how you like to travel. Both worked well for us.I always felt very safe in the area as well. At night, we heard absolutely NO noise despite being next to a busy area. The blackout curtain and blinds were AMAZING. We slept in until 11am at times and the room was pitch dark. We slept very well. Pillows and mattress was very comfortable (firm with a touch a softness on top, just perfect). I paid about $100-140 CAD per night (i booked separate bookings), it was amazing value for that price. It was $100 per night for the nights I booked 2 months in advance. I booked last minute for the other night and it was only $130-140 CAD. Again, highly recommend this hotel!!

The hotel is very poor in their said hotel policy for not allowing the guest being visited in the rented hotel room. I have been staying in hotel around the world for many years but I never find a hotel not allowing their guest being visited by family, friends, etc. The attitude of the person in charge (the person claimed to be the in charge of the hotel) was so bad even he was showing smile in his face. However, from his body language and facial expression, he really not showing any respect to their guest. From the language and expression of his face, he is discriminating guest from having visitors to her room. As if it is the policy of the hotel (Hotel Villa Fontaine) guest is forbidden being visiting from non- guest, this policy should be notified the guest ahead when they check in. We understand the hotel in charge suspected guest registered 2 people but there would be more than people staying in the room overnight. In this case, the hotel’s interest would be damaged. However, not every overseas guest would have more people staying in the room overnight more than registered. I am not saying the hotel in charge had any verbal in discrimination, but his attitude and expression let people strongly feeling of being discriminated as non-Japanese. It is the hospitality of Hotel Villa Fontaine. No dirty word but saying dirty thing.
